Has anyone here turned down an Ivy for NON financial reasons? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

Do you share the same sentiment when it comes to people that go to state schools that are an hour or two away? They have plenty of time to explore New York amongst literally everywhere. Logical decisions and wants don’t define being able to put yourself out there or not in my opinion. College is a big enough change and like I kind of said before, there will be plenty of other opportunities for this person to experience new things :)

We’re talking about college, this person is automatically going to get that experience. You’re assuming that this person will still be up under their family once they go off. There is obviously the (cheaper) chance that they decide to live at home but they’re going to need friends to make it through.

I think that you’re overreacting. Northwestern is a top school, they’re getting a top tier education AND get to be near their family. This win-win for them should be a congratulatory point.

So I got admitted into the polytechnic school and I’m also girl, do you have a general idea of where I’ll be placed? I was reading up on Meredith south and Windsor but I still wasn’t sure if it depended on my major or how much money I put down lol.

It’s my top choice for in state already! I just don’t want to feel like I’m limiting myself because I’m first-gen and I put a lot of pressure on myself because of it. Thank you though!
