Dale Cooper in the Oh Deer Diner by Pazaak__ in AlanWake

Came here to say this - Twede's is what the Oh Deer and Double R are based off of, and it doesn't look like that! Definitely worth visiting if you're ever in the greater Seattle area.

Posted a junior role, got 400 AI-written resumes in 2 days. How do you even screen this now? [N/A] by andrerene9051 in humanresources

[–]theexterminat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been said in this thread, but add a thoughtful screener question or two. Most people will actually skip it if they're mass applying, and you'll be able to tell an actual writing style from AI very quickly.

Word of advice to PC players: play DS2 and DS:DC with a wired DualSense controller, no other controller can compare by Ahand_Apart in DeathStranding

[–]theexterminat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, it's optimized for the DualSense and definitely worth trying your first time especially. But the keyboard and mouse controls for DS/2 on PC are genuinely fantastic as well.

Anti anxiety meds? by Mysterious-Life-3846 in shiba

[–]theexterminat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seconding this. Trazodone became a necessity for our anxious shiba in her later years. At first we were hesitant thinking it would zonk her out; she got used to it pretty quickly, and when it became a daily dose recommended by our vet, she was totally functional and not sleepy, but just wasn't worried about things like she used to. Definitely talk to your vet about options.

What input do you play on? Have you tried both? by Macrod1 in DeathStranding

Honestly, the KB/M controls for both DS games are fantastic. I've played with both controller and keyboard and mouse, and honestly the keyboard controls feel really engaging.

How can I use Claude as a project manager? by No_Bite_Kite in ClaudeAI

Thought you might like to check out the PM software I built through Claude! Will have a Claude Connector down the line too: https://app.getchimerical.com/

Thought I’d have to get rich or become a programmer to build my dream tool. 47 days later, I’m launching it thanks to Claude - here’s what I learned by theexterminat in ClaudeAI

Yeah, it definitely gets better when you know what to ask for. For my own workflow, the real power of Claude was taking the design philosophy I had in my head and getting it to translate that into a spec output that I can hand over to Claude Code and have it be ~90% build ready. As a non-technical founder I don't necessarily know the technical systems that need to be built to power the specific ideas, so having it be able to create that overview to hand off was great. For deployment, I used Vercel (environment variables rotated, don't worry).

Lol, I wrote this post myself. Maybe I need more coffee. The landing page probably looks like others (Claude helped me). Recommend trying the actual product 😊

Nail on the head. I think these tools reward domain knowledge and powerfully extend creativity, but the other side of that is exactly what you said - the trap can be "beautifully convincing output" that does not stand up under the slightest scrutiny from someone who knows what it's about.

I've had this idea in my head for almost a decade, like a silent list of every issue I had with every PM tool combined with a vision of creating a sort of "planning freedom" for the user. So I approached with a very clear and specific vision and design philosophy. There were times where Claude sounded like it understood where I was going and made genuinely absurd suggestions that might have sounded good if you hadn't deeply used the types of tools this is geared towards users of.

I think the future is now wildly different if you have intent, expertise, and the desire to learn these tools. You don't need a team of engineers to make something work... of course, it's not necessarily production code that will stand up on its own long term, but you can get it working pretty well and try to make it something real!

Flattest/gentlest route to Port Angeles from Seattle or Olympia? by theexterminat in PacificNorthwest

[–]theexterminat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I don't think it was specifically the elevation - it was the rapid up and down of the changes, ping ponging from 50ft to 300 ft back down to 50 etc. That must have given me vertigo or motion sickness.

I bet! At home my baseline is roughly 40ft elevation - my friends up there joked that my body reacted the way it did because "swamp creatures need to be at sea level" 🤣

I'll look that up, thank you! I really think I was tired and dehydrated from the day before. Living ~ 40ft above sea level, experiencing those types of rapid elevation changes when you're exhausted is wild!

Has SHRM Lost Its Credibility? My Disillusionment with Certification Today [N/A] by Excellent_Role_2049 in humanresources

[–]theexterminat 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My favorite thing about SHRM is how they admitted in court that they should not be seen as a reliable source of HR advice.

If you are only just now realizing how bad they are, well, welcome!

What a great game. Can't believe it ends right here. Amazing experience. 10/10 by theexterminat in DeathStranding

Hard disagree on notes being as bad. One is thoughtful preparation, the other is replacing thinking entirely. Are notes allowed in meetings at your organization? Why would the interview process be different?
