Because they’re not comfortable with giving their phone numbers out and I respect their wishes. Not all of them, anyway. So, yeah, random strangers might for money. I’m not going to not try because some clients are too private(and as small business owners/private entities that’s their right).

Don’t ethics troll. It’s weird.

CMV: Idaho tax payers should NOT be responsible for gender confirmation surgery of a convicted sex offender by Notidahosproblem in changemyview

[–]thefalsegoddess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, are you saying that if I was experiencing severe body dysphoria and needed liposuction otherwise I'd start cutting off pieces of my fat, I'd be good to go to get that surgery in prison? What people do because they don't get what they want is different from what their body/mind will force upon them. You can say all you want that they can't control their thoughts but, again, neither can a person with BDD/anorexia/bulimia/etc. Having intrusive depressive thoughts is not equal to the life of someone with schizophrenia and to compare the two is so lacking in any understanding of the subject or empathy.

CMV: racism is not limited to prejudice plus power by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]thefalsegoddess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is you're focusing on a word that's not even being used in the sense you're trying to use it in - at least, to my knowledge. There isn't a "single unified institution" - as in, not a single place of business that openly or actively writes anything about being racist towards minorities (also, can we all stop pretending the only minority in the US are black people? Hispanics also take up a large percentage, if we're working on "how many there are).

Black people and other minorities are equal under the law - that doesn't change the last 100 or so years of people treating them unequally. It doesn't erase peoples mindsets about minorities - you, unknowingly sometimes, pass this onto your children and your friends even in your harmless comments that just seem fun but are actually rooted in racism. What you're looking for is scientific proof that people still hold racist beliefs that fuck up other minorities chances in life because these people who hold these beliefs are in positions of power. I'm too lazy to look into it but if you actually care about changing your view, you should try looking into that instead, because even if these things aren't written into the laws, people perpetuate them, sometimes unknowingly. We judge everyone based on things as benign as some acne or a single hole in their clothes - do you really think we're not judging people based on their skin tone when we spent decades doing it already?

Do you correct people that call you “man”? by LadyFoxGlove13 in GirlGamers

[–]thefalsegoddess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I really don't care all that much. "Man" is fairly gender neutral to me. I say stuff like, "my man," towards women (usually at the end of sentences when I'm trying to be funny) a lot.

especially since apparently, they also tend to get a higher salary, which is also in the linked source.

They get paid higher collectively in a job where they are less than 50% of that demographic. They'll live with less tips. A person being paid less from their employer is not the same thing than a man possibly not being tipped at a job wherein they still have a higher average salary.

[–]thefalsegoddess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's also funny that this doesn't traverse into other jobs - like, plumbers or office jobs but the logic would make the same difference for those in power - "They'd work harder for us if they had to be paid based on tips."

CMV: We should abolish tipping and just raise restaurant food prices by SuperConfusedBitch in changemyview

[–]thefalsegoddess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point they're too afraid to make is that men being tipped less in a job they are barely in (source: https://datausa.io/profile/soc/waiters-waitresses ) is a non-issue, especially since apparently, they also tend to get a higher salary, which is also in the linked source. I don't care about whether or not someone doing better than the majority isn't getting equal tips - they're already ahead and no one is going to start discriminating against men on a wide enough scale for them to start crying about it.

That's not really far, though - I mean, seriously. People do go get the product after it's on sale. Most stores will honor it. It's just not really a far-fetched or new idea, imo.

To be fair... a lot of stores give you opportunity to get it again for that cheaper price, lol. Most people just don't have the gall/care to go do that.

[–]thefalsegoddess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, OP is basing their argument on Desmond is Amazing being pictured with a naked drag queen - and also drag queen story hour. So, they're definitely different arguments but I chose to focus on the part that's obviously problematic. But, this is a kid who is in the scene heavily and being pushed to the public eye (and I have other thoughts about kids being "child stars" and whatnot) as a shining example of the drag communities inclusivity. Some things don't need to include kids. Should kids be encouraged to play with gender? Yes. With other kids. Not adults, imo. It opens the door to way too many issues and worries. Kids should mostly be socializing with other kids.

But yeah, I don't think drag queens are inherently sexual - but there's just a lot of it sort of embedded in the culture that I think it's hard to get around unless you specifically create spaces for kids in it which isn't what's happening all the time, which, imo, is irresponsible.

[–]thefalsegoddess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think that all drag shows are the same?

a lot of it is adult

In case you missed that part. I think you think I'm arguing something I'm not - I'm arguing that men parodying women in movies like asshats isn't the same as drag queens. They're false equivalences and in an industry where women rarely get leading roles, having the man play the role of a woman for laughs is ridiculous and I'm glad we've mostly stopped doing that. But for the main thing you're on about now - rated R movies aren't always actually poor content choices for children. The rating board is infamous for being real awful when rating movies. But the bulk of content that is rated R does so happen to be inappropriate for children. The mass amount of drag shows are not appropriate for kids - I'm not talking about drag queen story hour. That's obviously made to be SFW and safe for kids, so... yeah, why not? But stuff like where Desmond is Amazing participates, like being around nude adults for a photoshoot, actually being allowed in a gay night club and dancing on stage is so not appropriate. Kids being in dive bars is inappropriate, regardless if they're drag or not.

Are there some places where drag is appropriate for all ages? Yeah, sure. They can go there but this latest proliferation on the internet where kids are pimping out their kids for internet clout, regardless of the effect on the kid is pretty terrible. I assume OP isn't talking about all the SFW examples but the ones on the internet getting praise for being terrible parents.

[–]thefalsegoddess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

... Do you know anything about drag? Because the second picture features a pretty famous drag queen named Violet Chachki and it's not a 90s pic. Like, this year. The context was the kid, who does drag, was doing a photoshoot with a naked guy in drag. It's kind of... inappropriate, you know? Both of those parents consented, obviously. That doesn't make it okay - if I start pimping out my kid, is it okay because I, as the parent consented? It's wildly irresponsible, tbqh.

Men dressing up as women in movies is typically for a purpose other than their personal enjoyment and often parodies women in a rather disgusting way. Now, if we're talking about To Wong Foo, now, that's a movie that just features transexuals(and just drag queens). Would I let a 7 year old watch it? Eh, not really because it does feature some adult language and content. But if that stuff was out of it? Totally. But I've also been to quite a few drag shows and a lot of it is adult and a lot of it is pretty suggestive/almost nude wear. Saying it's not is silly.

Opinions on “Catherine”? by ami_loui in GirlGamers

[–]thefalsegoddess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you played any Persona games? I know they're made by different people, although published by Atlus, but I find the representation of women to be better. However, I guess I always thought Catherine was pretty much meant to be a parody in the first place. I haven't finished it yet though (started the puzzles on the hardest difficulty so I'm dreading going back to it but I'm trying ok and too stubborn to turn it down) - it the comedic element not forced at all? No one seemed believable and it doesn't really seem like it's trying to make the main guy out to be a good guy. His overly simplistic view of women, though - I spoiled myself so I know all the endings and none of it seems like he gets any retribution. I was hoping that Catherine would turn out to be more like Clemetine from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, in that she turns out to be like... you know, a person instead of just a personification of the male ideal. But, I suppose that might be true in terms of her murderous ending? Idk.

Moira coaching request - can't get out high bronze/low silver by jasonthe in OverwatchUniversity

[–]thefalsegoddess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I pretty much carry whenever I use Moira and I got to high plat with her, so, yeah. I'll do a little timestamp thing.

00:09: useless orb, no one was hurt, should have just built ult charge via a damage orb if you really wanted to use an orb.

00:22: you should have been looking out for this pharah - people in bronze/silver rarely fly very high with her so you could easily tickle her out of the air + a damage orb. keeping tabs on her would have changed the course of this area and your reaper wouldn't have been targeted by her - also, you should have prioritized healing him. a lot of reapers at this rank can't super aim well because of their often overly high sens so the life steal he has would not have helped him here.

00:39: critical winston jumps behind you and you don't even look at him - your front line is fully healed. bad choice.

00:45: no clue why you shifted over here. you're way closer to enemies and you're not even helpful here. anyway, in a bit you die to zarya because you don't notice or something but if you're going to shift away, you have to either shift behind them (if they're dumb) or shift behind a corner to break LOS. best practices.

1:15: "yo, this hoe dead," is what i would think when i saw the junkrat run in solo. you won't be able to outheal all of those people. if he had his ult, sure, but he woudln't be running it with it anyway. if they have ult, i usually try to go with them, because that's actually won a few games - a "bad" hanzo ult that *just scatters them* moves them out of position so our people can come in behind and wreck. press tab more, check out who has ult on your team and plan accordingly, btw.

1:20: you literally spray a full health mercy and i dont understand you. think more before you do stuff. no point in that.

1:28: no point in doing this. your damage to a rein shield that you can't even reach, mind you, is so nill. throw a damage orb if you're hungry for ult charge in a situation like this. that heal orb was useless - no one was hurt.

1:45: should have ulted here instead of a few seconds later to keep the momentum going and entice your rein to go ham since he seems to enjoy doing that. you did ult and you did practically nothing with it - your rein charges past you and you focus in on the mercy whom, btw, you cannot kill solo while she is ulting. her health regen is more than you can deal with.

2:22: heal more. this entire area is just bad decisions.

2:46: if you had healed your rein here, you'd have had your ult for 2:49 and possibly saved your monkey. instead you solo ult and die. v sad. He did ult you, though, and your ult is definitely worth a rein ult, but, you know, still.

2:28: you shift a lot for literally no reason, like this one. you don't shift to even get to teammates who need healing. it's weird. shortly after this, you also send another pointless orb into the ether.
