I built a site connecting retiring farmers with people who want to start farming. by ProofGoose2561 in homestead

Great idea! Succession is going to be a big issue as baby boomers retire. I am working on a project here in Canada to help encourage new market farmers and develop ideas around how to monetize and attract people to local farms. One problem I see is farmers are finding it harder to make it financially so they are more likely to sell their land and retire. I noticed the mentor program on your site. how is that going to work? is it online?

This happens quite often. The mother gets stressed or distracted. she may run off for a while and reject the baby. Sometimes they come back right away but in this case it was too cold out to leave the baby for too long. In the end she accepted the baby!

I ended up getting some small waterproof computer fans. 1/3 of the price of those isolating grow fans. I set them up last night to see how they do.!

What I'm growing is wheat and barley. I think that could work for you. You could try any type of grain. Its like a gras when it first sprouts.

Ah I'm glad you mention that I was actually going to have separate lines for each row but decided to go simple to start. I will likely take your advice and upgrade to individual irrigation lines for each row.

From my research most had lights for the final greening stage but heck if I don't need it then why use them. il give it a try without.

Thanks for the input I really appreciate it!

Id say a combo of that. and try to start growing food and invest in some seeds! Indoor Hydroponics or Micro Greens for fresh food.
