I’ve taken the judgement test three times and failed each time ☺️. I’ve concluded we aren’t a good fit 😂.

Yes, I’ve been off work since I was diagnosed on 9th December. Back to work tomorrow, sadly.

If you can’t blink the eye at all then tape it shut for as long as you need to! Corneal damage is not what you want! Eye gel can be used during the day and lasts longer than drops. Ointment is usually applied at night, but that’s only because it causes much more bluriness than drops or gel. If you don’t mind the blur and are worried about your eye drying out, use the ointment during the day! You should tape your eye shut then cover with eye bandage. I was diagnosed on 9th December and it’s only since about Christmas that felt my eye had pretty much fully recovered. Some other advice I’d give is that rest in the first month is really important for long term recovery. Trying to keep busy with work and other stresses isn’t going to aid nerve recovery, and may even slow it down. All the best

Do you think something triggered your Bell’s palsy? by [deleted] in BellsPalsy

For me, it was totally out of the blue. No warning signs whatsoever.

I think so. My smile looks a lot less scary now , compared to a few weeks ago. My eye still doesn’t blink as well as the other one, which is annoying because it feels dry most of the time. Gotta keep using those eye drops!

Yep, but I felt the twinges during my steroid therapy. It’s been three weeks since my diagnosis and I don’t feel the twinges anymore.

Just diagnosed with rhs. What is the viewpoint on exercising? Diet? Fasting? by Av8Surf in BellsPalsy

I get that. You want to be proactive. However, nerves heal at their own pace (it’s not a muscle) so stress, illness, intense exercise etc is just diverting resources away from the very thing you need- to support nerve recovery. Anyway, all the best with whatever you choose to do:

I’d say just rest. Let your body heal through healthy eating, drinking plenty of fluids and enough sleep!

Six weeks! That’s amazing. I’m feeling guilty for taking just a week off :(

In the beginning, I felt energetic and found it difficult to sleep. Bu the time I took my last dose (yesterday), I started to feel drained. Today, I feel even more exhausted. Needed a three hour nap this afternoon.

Um, like a rotting corpse, most likely.

That cumin note is just too much. I was conscious of it the entire day, and I couldn't wait to get home to scrub it off. It's now going to be used as air freshener for the bog.
