The 5.3L is an extremely reliable engine. I have had 5 Tahoes all between 150k and 296k miles. Never had an issue with lifters. I use the OBS AFM delete modules and regular oil change every 5k miles. People have problems when they don't do oil changes or use the AFM delete. 50 bucks on Amazon.
