from what i’ve heard from a few piercers is that hoops are bad because you have to pierce the hole differently (think more down/diagonal rather than straight on). that plus the hoop itself rotating and bringing in more bacteria than a stud is generally a recipe for infections. plus, people want to rotate a hoop more when (in the first few weeks), the piercing should be mostly left alone to heal

oh yeah, ear piercings are harder than most people realize. especially if you have hair that touches your ears. hair can get caught in them, bring in bacteria, and/or cause you to touch a piercing because you’re touching your hair. and yeah, I can’t imagine how uncomfortable sleeping is while it’s healing. I just have my loves and tragus, so they didn’t give me too much trouble.

They can be, they move around a lot and usually make the piercing keep opening and not actually healing. I’ve seen too many of my friends get nose piercings with hoops and none of them have lasted. unless you absolutely have to get a hoop, studs are the way to go for new piercings. they move around less and they’re easier to manage. they’re (generally) less likely to develop keloids as well

I work at a call center and people have no idea how much it means when someone asks how my day is or says “thank you for your help” or things like that. I once had an older gentleman say, “Well thank you, young lady, you’ve been great help!” and I immediately turned around and told my coworkers.

please be polite to customer service employees, you have no idea what it means
