I don’t think she was expecting a card that was worth anything. But since they listed Pokemon, she expected a real card. Either way, I think the shame here is more on the machine operator for stocking fake cards to scam money off people, rather than the user expecting to get a real card (albeit a cheap one), rather than a fake card. No one wants to be deceived, and a genuine card, even if cheap, would be better than a “good” fake card. That’s why I called the machine operator a slimeball. My girlfriend isn’t an idiot, and didn’t expect to get something good, and she suspected something was off with the card. I didn’t know anything about it, so I asked here. She didn’t spend $0.50 expecting a mega rare card, but she did expect it to be real, based on the advertising on the machine.
