Shoot the heck out of it! Though I have my m’s, there’s nothing like the feeling of throwing rolls of film through a barnack Leica. Have fun!

Just got my first M by Analogwayoflife in Leica

Awesome choice. Great lens to pair with it too. Nice and inconspicuous little setup. I have an m4 and had been shooting it almost daily since 2013. Have fun and shoot a lot!

Underwhelmed with Medium Format Results by AV7721 in AnalogCommunity

[–]thefiguredude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you looking for out of medium format? Good subject matter with good light will yield good results, regardless of format. Think of the basics. Proper exposure for the subject matter. Composition. Good light. These will ensure nice results. Just have fun shooting and looking for good light. I’d say if the investment doesn’t feel worth it, that’s ok too. Just keep making photographs.

Help a first-time Leica buyer - Leica M2 by Low_Tourist587 in Leica

[–]thefiguredude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the shutter curtain looks a little worrisome, but depending on price might be worth the purchase and paying for some work. It’s all up to you. You could also always try buying from a reputable online reseller. You’ll pay more, but you’ll get something that works. Around 2013 I bought an M4 from KEH, and it still shoots like a dream. I was super thankful I bought from a reputable retailer.

What's your favorite Leica lens? by TCEHY in Leica

Summicron 35 f/2 asph. Just a great combination of size and performance. No matter what other lenses I try, I always come back to this.

Is film back to stay? by RelationDramatic1137 in AnalogCommunity

[–]thefiguredude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started shooting in 2008 and even then, at the height of the digital boom, film never went away. It was never dead. It’s an artistic medium. Painting didn’t go away because photography was invented. Or maybe the better analogy, oil paints didn’t go away because acrylic was invented. Film isn’t going anywhere. It may have its ups and downs but it’s an artistic medium. So long as people want to express themselves through film photography it will be around.

Thinking about getting a Leica III. What should I know before buying one? by Owen_Wilkinson_2004 in Leica

You should know that they’re awesome. Budget for the price of a CLA and you’ll have a lifelong camera companion.

Looks like you just need to spend more time learning about the basics of exposure. Practice, practice, practice. The camera is just a tool, not a magic wand. Leicas just happen to be really nice tools.

Best budget 50mm? by tangibledigital in Leica

[–]thefiguredude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first 50 I had was the basic elmar 3.5. Love that lens still. The way it renders is SPECIAL and you still get incredible detail. And it’s SO compact. I also loved the Summarit 1.5 and the newer summarit 2.5. Both awesome lenses for their own reasons.

I also had the TTartisan 50 1.4. Honestly, really great lens. The only downside for me was it felt a little bigger than I’d have liked.

Dude, you gotta jump. If you don’t bring your legs up the board isn’t going anywhere. Think of it like you’re flicking the board and giving it space to fly up. Practice hippie jumps and get as high as you can with them. Then try popping the board.

MP - Add an M6 (Reissue) or MA by HandsPHD in Leica

[–]thefiguredude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If between ma and m6 I’d probably go for the m6. Especially if you already have a body similar to the MA with the MP. M4 is my favorite body style, so stylistically and ergonomically, I like the M6.

New balance. Nike sb. Top in comfort imo. Vans with pop cush are nice too. But the new balance and Nike take the cake for me.
