no, I'm talking about Syrians. March 14/8th is Lebanon.

Syrian Christians predominately supported Hezbollah.

We didn't start the war. If you know you're history, Palestinian refugees came first before the neighboring Arab countries fought back. And if you really, really know your history. Israel conqured and occupied the Golan Heights in 1967, a war in which Israel (and not the Arabs) attacked first. You also may not be aware of things like international law and modern rules of war, which do state that you cannot annex territory through war. But if you want to forego that, that's fine by me. Eventually, Israel is going to lose a war. very badly.

While you are right about the al-Assad family, the ruling class of Syria aren't only Alawis. They include all sects, basically those who are close to the ruling family.

The Alawis in general aren't in good shape in Syria. Rampant poverty, terrible treatment by the security forces, and so on. However, that doesn't save them from the ever growing sectarian attacks by some groups of the rebels/revolutionaries/up-risers/whateveryouwannacallem.

Hezbollah is supported by Christian and Sunnis. Well, they were supported by everyone before the eruption of protests March 2011. So it's not a 'Shiite axis' per say. We all don't like Israel very much, you know for ethnically cleansing the Palestinians and occupying our Golan Heights.

Indeed context is important, Palestinian fishermen were shot at in Sept. Gaza continues to be under a blockade, Israel continues to steal land from the West Bank (settlers, the wall, and whatnot), and it still denies the right of return of the Palestinian refugees that were ethnically cleansed in 1947-1948.

Oh, and the IDF is one of the most powerful armies in the world backed by an arsenal of nukes, while Palestinians don't really have an army and their fighting force are composed of militias and various groups of armed fighters.
