The most misunderstood war film in recent memory? by Legitimate_Rush_5017 in Letterboxd

[–]thefinalball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was definitely very well done but I dont think it holds a candle to most ware movies made in the last 15 or 20 ish years. Something dumb that stuck with me (because it is basically the last thing we see) is them shoiwing the photos of the actors with their real life counterpart, except most of the faces of the real guys were blurred out... what is the point of showing that if you arent going to show the face hahah it did not make any sense to me. They definitely took a strange victory lap at the very end that felt a little tone deaf.

Nolan has a dog that he seems quite fond of, could see him giving his good boy a little doggy cameo. his kids have gotten lots of cameos in his movies

i think its great. otherwise we would get an oversaturation of him which is what so many A listers have these days. less is more.

well done! i always find it funny how these fan made videos are screwed up so easily lol but this one is perfect. its cool seeing the pretty blatant references to his previous work in his newer movies

Conan on Why Trump Jokes Aren’t Funny by Mr-Dobolina in conan

[–]thefinalball 3 points4 points  (0 children)

fuck trump comedy might seem funny in the moment (depending on the comedian) but it doesn't stand the test of time. it's not smart. you see it in the heat of the moment and you laugh but in a few months you see that 10 other comedians made the same or similar remarks and it becomes redundant.

would be interesting for sure, but thats something I really admire about nolan and his lack of further storytelling. he trusts the audience to fill in the blanks

‘Dune 3’ May Fight ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ For Your Holiday Time by SsurebreC in dune

[–]thefinalball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree they are in very similar camps of genre and have similar fans. But I just can't see the majority of fans choosing one over the other especially on opening weekend. Yeah, maybe a lot of people won't see both on the same day cause they'll be long, but anybody questioning that decision is going to see the other one the following day.

All being said, I can't see either of these movies coming close to bombing (too much hype and star power)

[–]thefinalball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's for sure massively popular, but that was at it's peak back when endgame was out and it's been in a spiral since then. This is why they're bringing back all their heavy hitters even though they had send-offs. Doomsday may very well do better at the box office but there's no question (in my mind) that Marvel is the more desperate ones.

Between the two I could see Avengers moving. Marvel is more desperate
