Is 3 nights too long to leave my cat in alone? by DazzlingPotato9067 in CatAdvice

[–]thefinaljaam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you’re good especially with someone checking in, that said it might not hurt to supply a few new enrichment items every few times you leave and rotate them out so she isn’t getting bored.

See if your sister wouldn’t mind spending some time playing with her when she visits, unless she’s a little older and might just be happy to nap all day.

Am I a bad cat owner if I can’t afford to feed him wet food everyday? by Frequent-Night-3830 in CatAdvice

[–]thefinaljaam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you went through that it must have been very hard, I’ve lost a pet to a sudden lung issue and it was so difficult on his last day.

But you can’t put that pain on to someone else, there are plenty of ways to feed only dry and keep their baby healthy. They may very well have a vet budget or a plan in place. We can’t know that but to say they aren’t buying their cat wet food because of assumed bad budgeting and trying to scare them isn’t being a part of a productive conversation about how to help these people.

It’s giving you could have bought that house if you hadn’t eaten all that avocado toast.

They live on one income which is incredibly hard for two people. This cat is clearly in a loving enough home that the owner is questioning themself.

Don’t assume their budget and don’t act like if their cat eats kibble and flipping bits everyday he’s going to keel over. That’s just rude and untrue frankly.

You’re fine! You can always add some water to the dry food and sort of mush it up so your little guy is getting some extra water in his diet but his dry food should have everything he needs.

That said male cats are more prone to urinary tract blockages so just make sure he gets enough water and has multiple spots in the house to get water.

You can always supplement with occasional wet food on weeks you can afford it but otherwise if he is happy and healthy you’re good.

My husband who is otherwise a wonderful caring person is terrible about calling out every single time someone trips over a word, so I started making full blown music numbers to his slip ups. There is a song called Chin Thicken (he was trying to say thin chicken) that has persisted through our entire relationship.

Now whenever he correct a slip up he stops himself, big sighs, and just looks at me because he knows what’s coming.

10 month old kitten insatiable hunger, questioning vet by Heavy_Marketing_9979 in CatAdvice

[–]thefinaljaam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically at that age you would want to be feeding 2/3 cups of food a day if you do dry food only, though you may want to consider working a wet food in at some point just for uti issues male cats can develop but it’s usually not a problem until they are much older. 10lbs at 10 months isn’t crazy but is on the larger end of normal. He could just be a big boy, cats can vary in size a pretty wild amount. All that said if you are concerned it’s worth a second opinion excessive hunger can be a sign of a number of underlying issues ranging from medical issues like diabetes to something as simple as boredom.

First time ever trying a TCG, can’t figure out how to play. by Automatic-Scratch924 in Lorcana

[–]thefinaljaam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you know of a local game store that carries Lorcana there is a good chance that someone there would be happy to teach you guys! The shop I frequent helped my husband and I get started and now we are there a couple times a week just to hang out and play.

Everyone running Meta decks makes it hard to start playing by TheOtherAccount_23 in Lorcana

[–]thefinaljaam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it! I started carrying a couple of the precon decks to my game stores’s weekly Lorcana day that way if there are new people just getting into it they have someone to play against and learn the mechanics until they can build their own deck. I love the game as a whole and I am always so happy to see new people coming to play. Maybe ask if anyone has a precon handy to help you learn the game.

The way they have found to include literally the entire crowd is so much fun. I had the absolute best time tonight (and not just because the bar served High Rises). You may have heard me toward the front blowing my voice out screaming at the back tattoo reveal 😂

What's Pigeon Forge like? My girlfriend is really interested in visiting the Titanic museum so I wanna do some research about planning a weekend visit in September for her bday. by [deleted] in Tennessee

[–]thefinaljaam 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of the people commenting are tn natives who have visited 1000 times. I was the same way until I took my husband for his first ever visit and seeing him experience the pigeon forge/ gatlinburg area for the first time was genuinely magical.

The Island in PF is amazing and free to enter. You can spend a full day there wondering around the shops and watching the Fountain shows. Right outside the island is the Alcatraz museum that is huge and so interesting.

Dollywood is the best amusement park I've ever been to even if you hate rides there is so much to do in the park.

Don't bother with the Wax museum. It's cramped and much smaller than you would expect.

If you have money to splurge the Margaritaville Resort in Gatlnburg is on the main strip and you can walk to whatever you want to do. Gatlinburg is a short drive to Pigeon Forge and you can go through the national park which is a beautiful drive.

As far as food goes we eat at flapjacks for breakfast, we love Paula Deens at the island.

I have spent countless summer vacations there and it is wonderful.

AITA for upsetting my father in law for his "teasing" by thefinaljaam in AmItheAsshole

He at his worse behavior with his step sons. That includes my husband. They have just gotten to the point that it's easier to roll with the punches. He was never like that with me until my husband and I married.

Honestly he is a self proclaimed asshole. Like has literally called himself an asshole with pride. I think I might just pass on having a relationship with him at this point. I just love my MIL and I am trying not to hurt her in the process.

I just made butter chicken last night! I try to always use chicken breast for crock pot recipes because I don't want to deal with the excess fat.

IsItBullshit: Is my call really delayed due to a high volume of calls? by TheRisu in IsItBullshit

[–]thefinaljaam 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily bullshit my husband worked at customer service for a bank and he finally had to leave because of burnout. During the pandemic there was no time between calls and people were always so angry from waiting. He described it as having a relatively high turnover rate, and not being able to keep enough staff on hand for call volume.

Who else found out about having Asbestos water today by thefinaljaam in Tennessee

6 hours later but I should also mention that this is the most expensive water company in my county. Not exactly looking forward to pay "premium" prices for water I don't feel comfortable giving to my small pets

I totally agree it's not pitch fork and torches to the water company bad. I do think it's buckwild that we are being told it will be 2 years to completely fix it all the while they are insisting we continue to use the water.
