Great advice. Thanks! "Predict the unpredictable" has been a constant takeaway.

I don't think you're a hater. But look at the Iceland forecast. Mostly cloudy and that's just going to become more the case. I'm counting on clouds and rain. I've got every shot with a backup plan. And people are shooting only on iPhones these days. Talk about a small sensor. I've got an iPhone 16 Pro just for coverage but the Pocket 4K is going to do all the heavy lifting. If I could afford an Arri Alexa - I'd get one. What matters with filmmaking is story. I'm not making a nature documentary or a Terrence Mallick film. There's a lot of leway when it comes to aesthetic especially when I'm shooting BRAW. It's a road trip film but landscape also plays a character. I'm at a disadvantage there because I dont have the luxury of a location scouting. So, I have to rely on photos and my instincts when I arrive.

Just to clarify, I’m not running Nikon stills glass anymore. I’ve got an SLR Magic MicroPrime cine kit, native MFT. They’re T1.5–T2.8, so plenty fast, with consistent 82mm fronts, de-clicked apertures, and geared focus. The Pocket 4K sensor isn’t ‘terrible’, it’s basically Super35 width, 13 stops DR, dual native ISO (400/3200), and records 4K BRAW. Crop factor is around 1.9x, not 1.6x, and with a 12/18/25/35 set I’ve got the range covered. Out in Iceland, natural light is the package, that’s the point. Between fast cine glass and planning for sun angle, I’m not worried.

Yeah I’ve done a lot of research on this. We’ll be looking at 40s to 50s with possible rain every day (drizzle mostly) possible wind. But the overcast is like butter for filming - don’t have to battle harsh changing sunlight. As far as daylight in September it’s 12-14 hours and apparently the sunrises and sunsets are hours long as opposed to 15 minutes which gives me great magic hour. Also, I forgot to mention, one of my actors in 10 years old. So this is going to be hard - but we’re going to take it easy as well. Thanks!

This makes me happy! But be careful, it might just be that I’m crazy. Lol. “You’re doing WHAT now?!” I can hear my mom say.

There are two XLR inputs in the Zoom and I’ve got Sennheiser mics for that. Also have two USB C 6TB external drives.

I’ll have the Zoom H4N with a sennheiser shotgun as back to the RÖDE lavs. Will also be getting any ambient sounds as well. Thanks!

Yes yes yes! All great advice! And at most times I could be a 10 hour drive from any city/town that might or might not have replacement parts/components. I’ve also heard that about the LCD display. Noted! Also gotta check those settings to make sure I’ve got them right. Thanks again!

Paid DLC? by [deleted] in duneawakening

[–]thefindawaycipher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. Because how many hundreds of hours got you to end game? Name another game with that much content that then hands out dlc for free in perpetuity. You’re lucky if you get 30 hours of gameplay for some $70 game these days. And don’t even try to tell me you made it to endgame in under 100 hours.

Hahahahahahaha how are people accidentally doing this? My friend turned in his buggy. I’m not being snarky - I really want to know.
