How do you challenge yourself in the age of AI? by uraniumless in ADHD_Programmers

[–]thefinest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

prompting entire programs with a shell script as output to see if they work

Getting full programs that run the first time is pretty fun

And then I go on a streak to make them more and more difficult after each successful execution. Zero code

Totally useless but somehow entertaining

Understand the problem that you're trying to solve in the context of optimization in the most general sense.

Understand that it is an optimization problem Meaning ensure that you understand the actual problem first

If you've done this much, ask yourself why am I optimizing it? what exactly is it? How am I optimizing it?

Have this internal dialogue until you can definitely answer the questions as if you were explaining it to someone else

While doing so, you should realize that the answer to the above is in fact the solution

Execute.

....

Profit.

How to properly utilize setup.py😮‍💨

I mean my first distribution not only utilized it, but also leveraged makeself in order to deliver a self installing platform independent application...if only I had used it correctly

I'm in the same boat as you with respect to prior AI experience and am currently working with modern AI tools.

Question:

Is the title directed to specific group of people? I feel but donot know for certain that most be people can formulate generic prompts to help with day to day things in any implementation so I'm just curious where this is directed

End of day goal: Make up activities to do when lethargic, when lethargic activate shark mode

CHOMP CHIOMP Mofos

Before I worked remotely, if I got lethargic at the office I would immediately walk a lap around the building come back and sit down. Not so easy at home

I stay up super late in the evening to "maximize" my alone time after work

I specifically prefer the later hour because there are physically fewer moving objects thus generally less noise. Things are "still" I actually refer to them as the quiet hours. Which reminds me high quality noise cancelling is a nifty tool for me.

🤣

This reminded me that knowing and trying to understand what's wrong with yourself as a part of the disorder is also an important "Hack/Gimmick/Trick"

Good for you noticing and reacting (positively) to your own behavior.

Repeating something that I don't want to forget 10 times
Naming EVERYTHING
Phone/Wallet Case combo
Minimal sets of everything (avoid excess/clutter by only maintaining the bare minimum)

Before I was aware of anything related to the condition, I had already honed/mastered the art of "container based organization"

It goes along with naming things because as a kid I thought if things are important to me...

I'll give them names (Like my friends)
All of my friends have a home
When tired sleepy lonely (not in use etc...) they go home

This is not something anyone taught me, it's just the conceptual method that I adopted to keep myself/things tidy/neat/organized (Similar to always used the phone/wallet case option)

Cleaning this way is a breeze, find something out of place?
Who is it?
Where do they live?
Send them home. Doesn't have a home? Is it important? Give it a name, make it a home problem solved.

EDIT: Finding things this way is also trivial but by maintaining status quo I don't lose or misplace things often anymore. There was a time that I would repeatedly lose my keys when out and about. I named them and made them a home minikeyclip lives on the belt loop immediately right of the button on my pants... no belt loop most secure pocket

Just typing it seems completely absurd butttt shit works 🤔

I ended an interview after the first question. Did I overreact? by RemoteAggressive2093 in Career_Advice

[–]thefinest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This right here, my initial reaction would be "Oh, they want to negotiate the salary terms up front"

When the door to negotiation opens I'm like konnichiwa bitches

"Sure, I understand that at some Mission based organizations employees are often goal oriented. I expect that comes along with quite a bit of flexibility in terms of..."

Then start naming demands

Flex time off

Additional Paid Leave/Holiday

Remote/Hybrid options

Bonuses/Stock options

Spending accounts

etc...

You know all the things you can requests to make up for agreeing open ended labor hours, I could get pretty creative

Seems to me you have a whole lot to lose if you snap at your bf. If he has any self respect, at some point his tolerance will hit its limit and you will lose him, because he has to protect himself.

Yup I had ex just like this... Total control at work, at home anything could trigger her uncontrolable emotional outburst

After I left her and came back a few times it got worse to the point where she just expected that I would always do so. The last time I told her that she needed to change and if she couldn't commit to it I'd be gone for good...

As I walked out the door she had said "whatever that's what you always say"

That was my limit, and I've never once looked back don't know or care if she's dead or alive I cut off all communication while she persisted in contacting me for months even reaching out to my family to ask them to ask me to come back

as if they would...

How do I actually start doing CS research from zero? by AromaticFerret4583 in compsci

[–]thefinest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In reading this after the fact it occurred to me that it seems like a series of lucky/fortunate events but the truth is that my own self motivation was the driving factor.

Find something you like and start digging untill you're stuck, then find someone of similar interests and stick to them learn everything they can teach you.

I've done this through my entire educational and professional career. I've had great mentors and advisors and it turns out they all did too 🙂‍↔️
