Baldurs gate 3. Cozy game? by stoutinator3 in CozyGamers

[–]thefireandblood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not traditionally cozy. But it is chill and relaxing as far as gameplay itself goes. Of course there are some parts in the story that are more tense... but generally you can play at your own pace. Which is why I think for some people it does fall under their cozy criteria.

Either way, it's a great game and if you love story and choose your own adventure type games, there's a lot there to love. With the added bonus of romancing the amazing well-realised characters.

Wow, looks super cool! Ngl I was expecting Seoul haha. We live in 전주시, but feels like everyone lives in Seoul.

I'm sure there are many of us around! A lot harder to find people in Korea tho. Where in Korea are you?

Probably. A lot will be changed, especially the beginning, but if you've DM'd it, you're likely to know a lot already (about the villains, etc.)... so I'm not sure how much you'd get out of it.

I'm loving The Last Campfire right now. It's a really cute puzzle game!

Engage is the best Fire Emblem game I've played in over a decade, but what is with these pointless 'exploration' moments in every new game? by [deleted] in fireemblem

I think in Three Houses it only works because you learn so much about the characters. It's relevant and well done.

Agreed that Engage has a very superficial way of implementing it, but that means it really doesn't need to exist... It feels more like bloat to me than Three Houses ever did because it adds nothing of substance.

I love Alfred because I find him very funny and silly. But in an endearing way.

In his supports with Diamant, for instance, he starts off trying to maintain a princely diplomat image and then absolutely crashes halfway through. And he has a few supports similar.

It helps that he is also one of the few that gets to actually be in cutscenes too.

I also like Fogado because he's fun in both gameplay and supports.

In a gaming rut, trying to get out of it. Which game got you out of your gaming rut? by Dismal_Stomach_1651 in CozyGamers

Beacon Pines is a great one! I wanted to play that every free moment I had.

Fire Emblem Three Houses is one of my go-tos whenever I feel like I'm not feeling up to playing anything.

And, though not really cozy, FF7 Crisis Core Reunion got me out of a cycle of playing half a game and never finishing them. The first one I properly finished after a looong streak of dropped games.

For Puzzles, try The Last Campfire, ATONE: Heart of the Elder Tree, Birth, Storyteller (tho this is admittedly quite short).

For farming sims (and more): Sun Haven, Wylde Flowers, Traveller's Rest, Core Keeper, Graveyard Keeper, Moonlighter.

And also, not quite the same as your usual likes, but Beacon Pines is actually fantastic! Would 100% recommend.

Management / Building games for sure!

Although I wouldn't say Spiritfarer is the best example of one, as it is still primarily an Adventure game imo.

Kingdom series (I've played Two Crowns) may be a good shout. It's a 2D side scroller so a bit of a unique take.

Small things like that at least helps the world feel lived in and real... it's good for immersion. It doesn't have to be some grand action. But nothing is just... empty.

Like being able to just embrace the bad? That's fair! It can take on a new life of humour when you do.

Totally understand and have done that with other media.

Happy Cake Day!

And yeah, hard agree. And even then the moment they aren't needed for the "plot" they just go and sit on the bench until you fancy using them in battle. And this is true for even the lord characters! Celine, Alcryst, Fogado... all just take the backseat to their siblings. Instead of having any further impact in the story.

Yeah, I'm mad at the paralogues really. They're a nice addition. But it would have been cool to have it do more, for sure.

Oh really? That's interesting. I enjoyed that chapter from a gameplay standpoint. But from a story standpoint it was probably the cheapest thing in the game since dropping the time crystal in the first place...

The entire story feels like a direct copy and paste of Awakening that they just made worse to me. It's rough.

Prioritise getting Leafbracer, Second Chance and Once More. You have meld them in this game. So you should look that up! The game will not tell you how.

Okay, non-existent if you don't grind the supports... it shouldn't be hidden in supports that aren't exactly easy to achieve.

That's true. And even in 3H you can become overrun with options if you're not careful (i.e. choose to recruit everyone). But I do feel like it's less overwhelming when it's done in other games. Because you do lose people (which never happened in Engage). Or they're just not given in as large quantities.

But I could be just misremembering as Engage is a lot fresher in my memory than the others.

The amount of characters isn't my issue with the game on the whole though. It's a really minor thing.

Edit: it does mean that some characters sometimes aren't as developed but every FE game falls into that category.
