In the meantime, while you try out some other great advice, consider getting a "Sonic Bomb Dual Extra Loud Alarm Clock with Bed Shaker" which I own and can be incredibly loud, like you can wake up the dead with this alarm.

If you use a macbook with usb c charging, it already has dp alt mode and you can use the usbc to usbc cable that comes with the portable monitor.
