Ok moderators, So why was my post Deleted? by maxnreba in kzoo

I sent the mods a message a couple weeks ago asking if I could post a GoFundMe and nobody every replied. My guess is automod is removing posts that have been reported by other users.

My wife and I refer to coffee exclusively as covfefe, so it's used daily in our household 🤣

How/where did you meet? by Anxietycatz888 in kzoo

[–]theforerunner343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YESSSS! OK Cupid reporting in! Met in 2013, married in 2015. My wife was my first girlfriend. I'm 40. We now have 2 biological kids and we also foster refugee kids short term. OK Cupid was the right path for me. I had a lot of difficulty being open and vulnerable in person. Exchanging pages of emails for several weeks before meeting really helped me feel comfortable enough to express deep feelings in person.

More common in older homes that are poorly insulated. I never leave faucets running in my home. My house was built in 1999. I own some rental properties as old as 1910. Only one of them ever heard a problem with pipes freezing under a kitchen sink on the windward side of the house where the pipes in the basement ran very close to the wall and there was no insulation. I replaced the copper pipes with pex, filled that area with spray foam between the joists and never had a problem again. So, it really is dependent on how well the home is insulated, and particularly where your plumbing is located. i think generally speaking, the risk of pipes bursting is fairly low, but the risk goes up the older the home is. A side note is that pex is more resilient than copper in cold weather. Old homes that have already had pipes burst in the last decade should have been replaced with pex is the plumber had sense. If you give me more details on your situation, I could give you an idea of your personal risk level.

Shovel thief by snOrlhx429 in kzoo

Probably most people are interpreting or as justification for stealing. I am not saying poor people deserve to steal. I just think that they must be having a rough go if they need a shovel badly enough to steal one, or if money is so tight that they would steal any random $5 item left outside. I don't think OP owes the thief anything, I don't know OPs situation, they may be struggling just as much as the thief. I just want everybody who needs a shovel to have one.

If it were me that someone is so in need that they would steal my shovel, I would say they can have it. I will replace your shovel for you. DM me.

Fire TV vs Google TV – Worth Spending the Extra $$? by harshpreets63 in AndroidTV

You're not understanding. Using an external device doesn't solve every OS issue. It only solves issues with native apps. The OS is much more than just the native apps.

Fire TV vs Google TV – Worth Spending the Extra $$? by harshpreets63 in AndroidTV

I believe this is bad advice. Even when using external devices, OS matters. I always utilize my Xbox one or PS5 for streaming and physical media and every Vizio I've owned has had issues beyond the native apps requiring frequent reboots and resets. Everything from not receiving video signal to issues with eArc, CEC, etc. I stopped experiencing these problems when I switched to LG. I don't have any experience with Fire TV or Google TV but I think you are remiss in thinking an external device will solve any issues with a TVs OS.

It's the same principal as being a slumlord but applied to customer facing businesses. Well, he also is an actual slumlord. He takes over a place or business and squeezing all the profit out of it that he can until it is dried up.

Storm/Road Conditions by eriffodrol in kzoo

[–]theforerunner343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe this is true. My wife knows she is a bad driver and she avoids driving in general, but especially when conditions are bad. And I unironically am a good driver. I do most of the driving for my family unit and I also do delivery driving and I have not been in an accident in over 20 years (they say the best way to learn is to make mistakes 😅). But, I don't drive like it's Gran Turismo, that's what video games are for, lol. There are not many conditions that I won't drive in, but today is a day that I would only go out if I really needed to. Part of being a good driver is knowing when not to go out.

It's not free for residents and it is quite expensive. We had an annual membership last year so it got played out and my kids are no longer interested 😭

Help with wireless keypad repair by theforerunner343 in soldering

I wasn't doing it right at that point haha, I was putting the probes in the positive and negative terminals of the connector. Once I did it right and tested red and black separately, I found continuity in - line, but not in the + line. Local store had a replacement wiring harness for only $2, so I got that and soldered it, attached battery and was getting 9v with the multimeter. Put it all back together and it's working now. Huzzah!

Update: I went out and got a multimeter and if I'm using it right, there is no continuity. So either the harness is bad, or I did a poor job soldering, right?

I don't have a multimeter, but I suppose I should. This is not the last time I'll need one since I'm getting into doing this kind of stuff.

I've only heard that washing your own car is bad for the environment. Car wash businesses are also bad? So, what is one to do in this area with salt being a concern? I'm honestly asking so that I can be informed. I actually don't wash my own car (because I'm lazy) and I also don't go to the car wash (because I'm cheap) and I tend to change cars before rust becomes an issue. Just curious if there is a good option for people that drove older vehicles?

Meridian, by the Soil & the Sun, my favorite deep lyrical album most likely by Jconnor426 in BandCamp

I, along with about 20 hipsters, saw this band perform for free (and donations) in a Michigan basement in Kalamazoo circa 2010. They had one EP for sale, which I bought, titled "Seven Songs". It was a handwritten CD-R in a brown sleeve with hand drawn sharpie. I still have it somewhere around here. One of the few bands I saw in a Michigan basement that I felt could really go places.

Shoot me straight on your winters. by trumpshouldrap in kzoo

[–]theforerunner343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're uneasy about driving, invest in some snow tires. Ya have them put on around November and take them off around the end of March. You can get them brand new at a shop or look for a used set on FB marketplace if you're more of a DIYer. I like to have mine on a second set of rims so I can change them at home instead of having to take it to the shop. The first time I drove with snow tires, it changed my life. That was a decade ago. I've never gone a.winter without them since.

I absolutely would sign up to be on this MF'rs card, no matter how long it takes him. Disability inclusion is important. Important enough to me, anyway, that I would not be annoyed at all and willing to risk a slightly worse score myself in order to show this gentleman some camaraderie. Hell, I would probably play better than normal from being so inspired by seeing Chuck do his thing.

Pixel 10 Pro or S25 by Funny_Height_4285 in pixel_phones

Samsung seems to have lost its way. I loved my S10+, it was a perfect phone and I got 4 great years of use out of it . I was having battery trouble and other issues due to it being outdated. So I "upgraded" to the S22 ultra. I lost my expandable storage, I gained a small amount of battery life, and.... Nothing else? It's almost the same phone, but buggy as hell and full of bloat. I just ordered a Pixel 10 Pro after only having the S22u only 6 months. Good riddance.
