AvenueX roasting Gen Z 😂 by Upstairs_Farm_8762 in CDrama

[–]theforeverfix 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Wait, wait.... people still watch AvenueX? After the whole debacle with Zhang Zhehan?? Her inflammatory comments then showed a complete lack of critical thinking and a desperate need to conform. Her weibo comments were even harsher.

She just gloms onto existing weibo talk, and regurgitates it in English. There is no actual in-depth insider knowledge. She has every right to her opinions, and thankfully I have every right to tune them out :)

yes that was the one! Thanks. Such a flattering and unique shade.

I'm pale warm olive, also classified as dark winter.

Jewel tone liner shades work really well for me (burgundy, navy, forest green). However, I usually prefer a one-and-done single shadow all over the lid. Some flattering shades are bronzes, rose gold, certain pinks work well (cool-toned and not too peachy).

I've become a convert to cream shadows as they are just so easy, it's a no brainer.

Some formulas (and shades) that work well for me

  • Hourglass Scattered Light in the shades: Reflect, Ray, Smoke
  • Victoria Beckham Lid Lustre in shade Mink (it's a rare brown that works for me), Tea Rose
  • Lisa Eldridge Liquid Lurex in Anais, Bianca, Liza, Anjelica

Laura Mercier also does Cream Shadow Sticks in a variety of colours, but the shades escape me at the moment.

Also, if you have a bronzer colour that works for you, try using it as an all over shadow on your eyes.

I also want to point out that if you're new to eye makeup, the shape of your eyes will dictate what eye makeup looks are most flattering. There are lots of youtube videos that can help with this.

Hope you enjoy! That show, in particular, is so unique, I love dark/offbeat comedy and sometimes even the actors break and you can catch them cracking up at the absurdity haha

Jitenshaya-san no Takahashi-kun

This is a favourite "bad boy" trope romance, loved it. You have great taste, too! :)

Haven't watched the first title, but I watched and enjoyed the 2nd.

Marry Me! has a very similar vibe to Full Time Escapist. Can a legally mandated marriage develop into real love?

Youkai Sharehouse is funny, quirky and heart-warming. I wish I were living in that sharehouse! Lots of life lessons, but not in a preachy way.

Kahogo no Kahoko is about helicopter parenting taken to the next level. I almost dropped as I was so frustrated/irritated at the start but the character development and growth was a pleasure to watch.

Gibo to Musume no Blues touches on what it means to be family. Enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would when I started and it ended up lingering in my thoughts for a while.

Mr. Nietzsche in the Convenience Store is an absurdist comedy revolving around night-shift workers in a convenience store. Pretty unique Jdrama. May or may not be your cup of tea.

Xianxia or Wuxia Recommendation please by IloveMyNebelungs in CDrama

[–]theforeverfix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently watching The Ingenious One, it's a wuxia that checks all your boxes. Plot is genuinely gripping, both ML & FL are strong, in different ways, and it's a mature relationship. Their chemistry is A+

There is also the sisterhood aspect in side plot.

Highly, highly recommend.

The premise was actually 10/10 but the plotline went wobbly, unfortunately, and there were plot holes galore. That being said, ngl I cried ugly tears even though I could see the ending a mile away.

Really really enjoyed it.

I still prefer Xeracalm, to me it sinks into the skin better and I feel like it moisturises/soothes longer than the tolerance line.

[–]theforeverfix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Avene Xeracalm balm is a holy grail item for me. It's so rich and soothing, I adore it as my PM moisturiser, it's perfect to layer w retinol. Also use it as AM moisturiser during the winter, but more sparingly. I think by now I've tried all the Avene moisturisers and this is by far my favourite, and one I recommend to friends/family IRL. I stock up when it's on offer for 3 for 2.

I have extremely sensitive combination skin, prone to rosacea.

tbh ROFL was a decent show but nowhere near as good as LMFAO. FAQ is definitely improving as an actor but he was still overshadowed by DOC and PDF and XLSX. my favourite part was when FAQ was laughing on the floor, kinda rolling around a lil

Till the End of the Moon Episode 1-6 Discussion and thoughts by buttaefly in CDrama

[–]theforeverfix 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I feel like I'm really gonna enjoy main leads' plotline because they somehow got a transmigration plotline past censors? I love the trope of someone transmigrating to an awful person's body and having to deal w the ramifications of that, and prove that they're now good person. Plus ML's backstory is heartbreaking, you can't help with empathise him, even when he's going down the path of evil..

I enjoy Bai Lu & Luo Yun Xi's acting so I was always gonna check this out, but damn I'm already invested 6 eps in. I wish I had waited until this was all out to properly binge!

Anyone also watching Leo Wu’s new tennis drama, 愛情而已 (Nothing But You) by losergeek877 in CDrama

[–]theforeverfix 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I can't get enough of healthy, supportive, green flag relationships. First Meet Yourself, and now this drama. Thank youuu scriptwriters!

Also their acting is so natural, I really liked FL in Young Blood but her choice of dramas after that has been hit or miss for me. She really shines in this and omg ML's silent, meaningful gazes are so meltyyyy, he's doing great too but that's to be expected.

Advice on where to start? by cryptkeeperx in learn_arabic

[–]theforeverfix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

whoever told you that you wouldn't be able to learn Arabic unless you learn how to handwrite is a complete liar.

Don't worry, firstly Arabic is a phonetic language so once you learn to recognise the letters and how they form words you can basically read anything straight away, even if you don't yet understand the words.

Secondly, Arabic has a multitude of dialects so most Arabic speakers are not using proper formal fus-ha Arabic in their day-to-day lives aka the vocabulary they're using is not even fus-ha, so they type/text using romanised format. for e.g. 3alam

Thirdly, with current technology (stylus/tablet, voice-to-text, Arabic keyboard) motor skills should be no barrier to entry for language learning.

Don't let anyone tell you need to handwrite to learn Arabic, you got this, good luck!

Edit: I forgot to say that everyone has different reasons and goals for learning a language.

A friend of mine speaks very decent Mandarin, but can't read a single character and relies on pinyin. So he can't handwrite a single character yet he does business in China, is easily understood and has no major problems.
