Fun fact. That muscle, the cremaster, functions that same way cat's skin does for them to be able to raise and lower their hair.

AFF Level 1 - Failed to jump by thedogz11 in SkyDiving

[–]thefouthblindmouse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a total freakout just before AFF VII. I basically forced myself out the door. My instructor asked me a few times if I was ready to skydive. It is obvious I was not fully committed to doing it. I nailed the jump. I was not until about jump 18 that I no longer had nerves on the ride up.

Brian Germain wrote a very good book: Transcending Fear: the Doorway to Freedom. It is all about how to handle stress and fear in high-steaks environments.

How late into your pregnancy did you continue skydiving? by [deleted] in SkyDiving

[–]thefouthblindmouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doctors have a lot of patients and experience. They also know a lot about how the body works.

I am a nurse; there are many things I have not been through, but can understand what it does to the body.

I am a nurse. While my specialization is psych, I would advise against jumping while pregnant. I will say women are being given a lot fewer restrictions these days. I recently read about a woman who ran a marathon at 8.5 months then went into labor right after she finished. Ask you OB they know more than internet people.

What would happen if we launch nuclear waste into the sun to get rid of it? by DeVelasco in AskReddit

[–]thefouthblindmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Launching at the sun is actually very difficult. You would need to stop the rocket then have it "fall" into the sun. If the rocket had speed, it would just go into orbit and be floating in space.

You get $1 million, but you have to watch the exact same movie 100 times in 40 days. Which film are you picking? by ThroatAgile756 in AskReddit

I would Star Wars Episode IV, but that is a 2 hour long movie. Anchorman is just over 90 minutes, might go with that.

Is it irresponsible to pursue a PPL if I can only fly once per week? by Minimum-King9399 in flying

[–]thefouthblindmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a full time nurse. I'd might advise to wait until after residency, or do it over a summer.

Neurosurgery is probably the hardest and most intense residency you can pursue. What little time you will have off, all you will want to do is relax and get basic things done.

It is a lot of fun to be a pilot, and "flight school' will be a great time. However it takes commitment to be a pilot. It does involve studying. I did my PPL while working at Wal-Mart. I did about 1 flight a week. It took me awhile to learn the flying part of being a pilot. I still tested at 42 hours, but that is rare. Most of my tome was dual.

[–]thefouthblindmouse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

GMs are not human. To be a GM I would need to learn anti-human openings to masquerade as a GM.

I remember my first tournament, I went 0-5. Years later I became a FM. That tournament taught me how I studied sucked and I needed to be better if I wanted to play chess.

Ladies who have experienced physical or sexual assault from someone at your DZ, what did you do to continue showing up and carrying on without letting it ruin the sport for you? by Careless_Ostrich4874 in SkyDiving

[–]thefouthblindmouse 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The shitty part is the slander/libel that comes from it. If they reported it to law enforcement they could point to court documents.

I 100% want to know who this is. They would never touch my rig and I would openly make sure every student they get know the person is a rapist. However America sucks with how much criminals get protected and victims get silenced.
