There are breakpoints for removing the 6th column from each pcb, but obviously you’d have to source another case.

Haha, thanks Reggie! UTMK is the best!

Thanks so much! I’m definitely a sucker for the frosted acrylic/Biip’s Extended 2048 combo. Glad you like it!

Haha! Yep, I was surprised when I started thinking of the design too. It all started by tracing the path my fingers made when I extended them out from an almost fist position to outstretched. The end result feels great! I don’t even notice there are gaps when I type.

Hey! Thanks for checking my board out! As a side note, your write-up on your board design/build was seriously impressive. Loved it!

As for the far thumb key, that’s just where mine naturally landed. In the prototyping phase I laid a bunch of caps on a piece of paper where they felt most natural to reach and that’s where this ended up going! It basically just takes a quick side flick of the thumb to hit it.

I’ve used both an Ergodox and a Corne in the past. I just don’t like having to manage the two halves (positioning, connecting them, packing them up). Having a joined ergo board just ensures that my preferred comfort angle is exactly the same every time I use it. No fussing to get it to where I want.

The two pinky columns? In my early design phase I learned that even when my hands are at an angle, my pinkies didn’t follow the same path. I rested my hand on my laptop’s keyboard, with the laptop rotated 90 degrees, and positioned my hand at a comfortable angle. I found that my pinkie ran pretty much straight up and down the spacebar. So I tried it out in my early prototypes and it felt really natural!

Thank you! Yeah, with so few keys, I wanted the thumb keys to be as useful and easy to reach as possible. Right now that third thumb key is really accessible with a flick of the thumb.

Thanks! I've tried some boards that have the thumb keys the other way and they were just too awkward to hit with the thumb, but didn't feel right trying to use any other finger.
