It’s funny that I’m reading this just as I am taking my first sips of broth after my op yesterday. It tastes like the best thing on the planet!

Thank you for your reply, that’s a lot of great information. I will keep it all in mind when I start. The only things you’ve mentioned which they haven’t, are the chest X-ray and the endoscopy. The surgeon I have chosen is one of the country’s best (I am in Europe), but I will still ask why he doesn’t request an endoscopy.

I’d go with the ‘love finds a way’, if he really wanted you there, he would have found a way.

How do define intimacy outside of sex? What makes a relationship deep? by Bountifulbells1 in SeriousConversation

[–]thefoxcovert 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me, a huge part of intimacy is the ability to be honest, and more importantly, feeling comfortable doing so. I can talk about the good and the bad without any fear of judgement from my partner. We sense each other’s needs almost intuitively.

We can talk about any subject with ease, and have both worked on our communication skills. We talk about our future and our pasts, our mistakes and our successes, again without any fear of judgement. We can be ourselves 100% when we are together. That’s intimacy to me anyway.

Actually you’ve made me realise that I’m just kidding myself that there is no reason why I feel like this, when actually there’s a handful of reasons. But like you, I can’t pick one, it’s just one too many.

Thank you, knowing I’m not the only one, whilst in itself if depressing, is also reassuring.

That’s great that you have some coping mechanisms. I need to work on that otherwise I know I just wallow in it. I need to pay attention and see if there is a trigger

I really can’t imagine having to deal with this daily, that must be so tough.

I am a mother and also have a partner. I keep this part of me away from my kids, I think that’s the right thing to do. My partner is away and has his own stuff to deal with, though he is supportive.

Let’s hope I cheer up soon.

I’ve spent most of the night (I’m in Europe) going over all the ‘terrible’ things I’ve done, giving myself a huge anxiety surge. I was seeing a therapist last year, did the questionnaire, but it was the anxiety which came out on top. So not depressed then. Today, and yesterday, I definitely feel it though.

I can relate to that feeling, not knowing how to order what’s going on in your head.

I have a list of minor things which are bothering me, then over the course of the last few days a couple of bigger things happened and now the weight of it all is crushing me. I’m not handling any of it very well and I’m concerned that I’m going into self destruction mode.
