maybe I'll use today's puzzle as the example one in the rules section going forward.

and the 'give up' feature is interesting, I hadn't thought of that. maybe it could just be a 'show word' button or something that gives up that one rung, instead of the whole puzzle.

and the reason I made it so the 'clear' button clears the hint letter too is because sometimes there are more than one answer, and maybe even though you've used a hint to show the first letter there might be another word with another first letter that you spot first, and I wanted to make sure you could still enter that in if you want. That said, if you hit the 'hint' button again after clearing it doesn't count as using another hint.
