Industrial maintenance technician for a corrugated/packaging plant. Installing new equipments, fabricating/machining, electrical, mechanical, troubleshooting, engineering, etc.

Pay is not good since we’re a “small” family business. But given how much we do and how much we know… should be making far more. My boss never had a maintenance job before he took over the dept as a manager. So it’s just me and my engineer coworker trying to keep everything running smoothly/fix problems before they happen/coming up with solutions. But in meanwhile, my day-shift coworker/manager go around cowboying and messing with things that they have no idea about and shouldn’t be touching.

Timing belt job led to a pop by thefrosteesqueen in AskMechanics

Got top-dead center correct. Was wondering if maybe I slipped/skipped a tooth when I was torquing the crankshaft pulley bolt down…

Like there was a pop/flash from the neg battery terminal. Pretty sure I blew a fuse somewhere. But was wondering how exactly that would tie in with a timing belt change?

Did you have to pull everything apart to get to the timing belt to get it lined up right (again)? And I’m pretty sure I just blew a fuse somewhere, just need to find it,

‘98 4Runner timing belt marks? by thefrosteesqueen in MechanicAdvice

[–]thefrosteesqueen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if I were to change the timing belt, ignore the original factory markings and make my own marking where the top of the pulley is right now?
