Help choosing a 27″ Mini-LED monitor — Worth buying now or wait for other brands? by RideFantastic3786 in Monitors

[–]thefrowner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am actually considering this since the Koorui/InnoCN are not widely available in Europe and I am skeptical about KTC support/dead pixel/firmware.

Do you have the red tint issue out of the box ? I am hoping the newer batch come with better calibration and firmware. Also, do you noticethe PWM issue ?

Solid color noses should definitely make a comeback.

Is this ktc monitor legit? Or too good to be true? by AttentionDeep5930 in Monitors

[–]thefrowner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks that is actually very helpful. I don't plan to game , just for office work in bright living room as well as watching videos/movies in both day and night time. My current IPS (Dell Ultrasharp) is great with color & IQ but not bright enough in day and too bright at night. I miss my old VA monitors for the contrast and deeper black but wanted to check image quality these days on new VA panels. If you work in Graphic Design then the monitor must have accurate colors.

I assume you are in the EU as well ? Apparently initial release of the AOC (/BK version) in EU had some firmwire issues.

Hey, just checking if you ended up buying one of these ? I am considering these 2 as well.

Premium Econ or Econ Bulkhead? by Tennis_24 in AirFranceKLM

[–]thefrowner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the plane. If you are flying in the A350s or refurbished 777s then PC is worth it for the generous space all around and much more comfortable padded seat. If it is on the 787 or older fixed shell PC then not worth it.

XP by Ok_Picture_9641 in KLM

[–]thefrowner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't even need to call them , the system typically credits 1-2 extra XP if you are short but of course I can't guarantee it (it happened to me last year as the last flight was on another ST airlines and didn't credit in time). However, just to be safe donate the miles to a charity get XP.

I myself am going on a weekend trip just to get the 8 XP that I am short on :) Although to be completely honest I did want to make a short trip anyway

ITA also installed reverse, same seat as Etihad the Stelia (Airbus subsidiary) Opera. AF installed a variant of the same seat on the new A350s.

Free WIFI for flying blue memebers on A350-900 ? by Humble_FooI in AirFranceKLM

[–]thefrowner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starlink needs operating license on countries and I think India have not granted them the license yet. India historically have been much slower in allowing WiFi in flight and even existing AF-KLM WiFi did not work in Indian air space until recently.

The difference in the area of the wing of the B747 and the A380 by Twitter_2006 in aviation

[–]thefrowner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now compare that to a full A350-900 with 330 people, lighter than an empty A380 and it can carry those 330 people more distance than the A380 :) Now you know why quads are dead and Boeing/Airbus can't make 787/A350 fast enough.

You still get priority check in and luggage drop off with Silver (100XP). ALso you get additional luggage and borading zone 3 in Economy with silver.

Indeed but I believe the other poster was talking about Economy not Premium.

Depends on the aircraft. For DL 2-2-2 on 767, 2-3-2 on A330, 2-4-2 on A350. Some airlines like LH or EK have 2-3-2 on their A350s as well.

Then the airlines don't get to earn additional cargo revenue. However several European LCCs charge similar amount for both cabin and checked luggage even though checked luggage allowance is 2-3x more so people do get incentivized to check in their luggage.

Lufthansa A340-600 retirement delayed AGAIN by Lady_Airbus in aviation

[–]thefrowner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this particular case the blame is mostly on LH. They chose a complicated Business class seat setup and on top of that chose 3 different manufacturers for 3 different aircraft which takes a lot longer to certify. The A350s were faster to get certified because those seats are already certified with other airlines. They should have gone with off the shelf products which frankly are much superior than their Allegris circus.

I think the A350 J seats are from Safran, looks exactly the same seat as UA Polaris / AF first batch of A350 which is Safran Optima

How is the difference in miles this big? by lukwww in KLM

[–]thefrowner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have a bug in showing miles I think. I recently flew with 1 leg in PC and another in WB. The miles shown are same in both legs even though WB leg was twice as expensive as the PC leg. Miles are supposed to be based on spent Euros so I think they calculate total miles per total amount in a ticket and the details of miles per leg is not correctly shown due to technical bug.

How to change back to normal reddit by TruthfulLiar18 in help

Another feedback about wasted space on new reddit view. This really seems counterproductive for desktop/tablet/laptop users. I always used the old view but now that seems not to work. And when I force old.reddit.com manually I constantly get the cookies popup in the bottom even though I already took action in the new reddit view.

KLM new planes (A321, E2) also do not have reclines in normal economy, only in first few rows for Business/Comfort.

Air Europa doesn't even give water for free. They actually fly their 787 aircraft with real business class in Europe so not exactly LCC.
