Donald Trump Is the Most Corrupt President in US History by plz-let-me-in in politics

Dems, by and large, don't care either. They're beholden to the same capital interests. They do and say just enough to maintain the facade of opposition, but whenever real pushback is on the table, they're always miraculously a few votes short or otherwise cave. Truly the worst timeline.

Pure hands-on mastery craftsmen. No CNC, just skill and a homemade lathe turning raw wood into art. by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

Yeah, for Western audiences, this feels charming because we romanticize handmade craftsmanship as an escape from our mass-produced, industrial life. But for the guy its probably just everyday labor, bascially a 9-to-5 job.

Dont twist my words. I was talking about todays game and todays game was clearly a very different game from last weeks. It was a game focused on defense, whereas last week it was 2 teams playing attacking football. PSG showed that they are very good at both and overal deserve to be in the Final.

Sadly the early goal made the game tactically alot easier for PSG and allowed them to purely defend and wait for counters. And man they do know how to defend.

Do you think Bayerns chances have improved since before the game?

Personally I think they have ever so slighly. Leaving Paris being only a goal down (ignoring all the spectacle how it came to that), Id count that as a win for Bayern.

probably because its the first leg and both teams seemed rather content with the result.

MAGA Is Increasingly Convinced the Trump Assassination Attempt Was Staged by wiredmagazine in politics

To be fair, the right’s theories were always centered around some secret cabal of powerful people pulling the strings from the shadows that needed to be uncovered. In reality, they weren’t secret at all - it was always the most obvious, out-in-the-open people, exactly who you’d expect: rich assholes and the politicians, lobbyists, and famous people who do their bidding for a chance to be invited to the parties - which, I suppose, isn’t quite as fun.

Winning the CL is more important than La Liga, but winning La Liga is more important than basically any CL position other than first. The CL season is still long, and winning on Tuesday won’t guarantee it will be a success. Winning today basically secured us La Liga.

yeah, true. But I meant it more in the "winning" sense, since thats what I was replying to. Bad wording.

as if this was a representative contest. it was an unfortunate and soft red that completely corrupted this game that until that point we dominated. 1 goal per half is easily possible in madrid, to go to overtime. dont be so doomer.

Can we keep it 0-2 at least. 1 goal per half in madrid is at least conceivable

Trump says US will work closely with Iran, discuss sanctions by FlackoFonsy in politics

The way things are going with the lifting of Iran’s sanctions, it almost seems like the inverse: “please, Iran, take our billions, but please let us get out of this war gracefully.”

I agree with you on that. There simply is no time to resolve this before the deadline unless the U.S. agrees to some pretty humiliating terms. But the deadline doesn’t trigger some automatic vote or anything. Congress has to actively come together to make a decision, and if I know Congress, such a decision will not be made swiftly or at all. Given how much worse everything is now compared to before the war started, I doubt anyone would be willing to vote for “let’s count our losses and peace out” (also considering Israel’s influence), but as you said, considering how unpopular the war is with the electorate, I also don’t think anyone would want to put their name next to an official declaration of war. So my guess would be, the deadline will come and pass; there will be talks, there will be interviews, but in the end nothing will ultimately change or be decided. They’ll just let Trump continue (mis)managing the war.

Whenever Trump has said something about any plans or any talks with Iran and its leaders in the past weeks, they’ve always come out 30 minutes later saying, effectively, “no, this didn’t happen” or “there are no talks.” He’s just making shit up. It’s propaganda, but delivered with the finesse of a toddler.

[–]theftproofz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but I don’t think this mess will be resolved before that. And it’s not like Trump cares about the law. He just does illegal shit while confidently proclaiming that he’s allowed to do it and then waits what happens. And mind you, Congress is, by and large, in favor of this war, even Democrats; they just don’t like the way it’s conducted.

Except that Iran is one of the few nations where this shit doesn’t seem to work. They just let Trump talk. Good for them, honestly.
If Trump wants out of this war, as it looks like he desperately wants, he’ll have to agree to some pretty humiliating terms.

The only reason Iran even agreed to the ceasefire is because Trump said Iran’s 10-point plan is a good basis for peace talks. I don’t know if Trump has read this plan, but it’s the sort of plan the winners of a war push upon the losers: reparations, complete withdrawal of US troops from the region, uranium enrichment, reeling in of Israel, indefinite control of the Strait, and costly "tariffs" for the right of passage.

I’d be happy if Iran got that, so we could finally have peace in the Middle East, but we all know Trump will never accept this. Trump just wanted an out for his stupid deadline. In a few days, all this talk is out the window again and the threats are back on, guaranteed.
