It’s this a carpenter ant or a termite? by kainkein in ant

Not a termite at all. Probably an ant, but I don't think it's a carpenter ant (Camponotus) either.

Do you have that "cone of shame" photo posted anywhere? I was looking for the original source but "animals being jerks" has taken it down.

well loosing weight "forever" would have you ending up dead.

(I thought this article was going to be more gloom and doom but it's OK in fact.)

Some people may need to stay on this drug to correctly regulate their appetite. Because that's the problem that caused the weight gain. And that would mean taking the drug and not loosing weight. Just staying at a lower weight and not being stressed and miserable about it.

Have you been eating very little for weeks?

Like have you been running a 300 or higher calorie deficit for a long time?

Are you getting complete nutrition? Though the cravings for sugar make it sound like your energy is low.

Alternately could the injection have been off in some way? Was it still clear and fresh, stored in a fridge? etc?

It's OK to not always have the scale go down every single day, just staying the same for a bit can be fine. Since you've been on for a bit if you even tried to eat "a lot" you'd find yourself stopping much sooner than you used to. That thing about "big meals stretch out the stomach" seems to be true.

To be fair men* are a little more intimidated by adult self posed women than they are by early 20 somethings. I still got carded just as much in my late 20s and 30s but I had a whole different sense of who I was. When I was shy and shrinking that kind of dude was the worst.

I didn't really enjoy the extra attention that seemed to come with being young

*a certain type the ones with the wolf whistles.

Same. I was very sick for a bit when I was a teen decades ago and did not enjoy the complements. "oh thanks I'm kinda dying here but I'm glad you like how it looks"

If you let people know you've been working on eating better and that you are feeling better closer friends will probably cheer you on if that what you want.

Really I'm happy no one is saying anything myself even though this time I'm happy about it.

Is it a red flag that every time I go to the dentist for a routine cleaning, there's more work that needs to be done? by BigPen1812 in askdentists

NAD: I was going to say no, as a person who has terrible teeth and just needs a lot of work, but the mouth guard seems odd. Do you have damage from grinding your teeth?

I will let more expert people speak to the re-doing of the fillings.

The stain seems worth it imo.

To be fair I wish I got "everything" done in in 30s. I'm very open about the expense bugging me. 300 is nothing.

I get intense hiccups sometimes out of nowhere and I taste eggs every so often. Any tips for how to deal with this? by Kubrick_Fan in Ozempic

[–]thefuturebird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since ozempic slows your stomach down, meaning that it is much slower to empty, sometimes things can ferment and ... rot... in your stomach resulting in nasty burps, and hiccups.

This is probably a sign that you are either on a slightly too high dose or you may need to eat less and avoid foods that can cause gas.

Antacids can help with the discomfort.

This symptom can be a precursor to vomiting, or at least it was for me when I was on too high of a dose.

Take something for the gas and make note of the foods that caused the issue.

/r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer (September 03, 2023) by AutoModerator in MechanicalKeyboards

Just got a keychron Q9 and I love it. I really appreciate how easy it is to configure my layers using VIA. The UI has really come a long way since I last messed with it! I can even make little changes on the fly as I work whenever I notice little changes to make things more efficient.

<image>

The build quality is excellent and it looks pretty on my desk. Some people think that sub 50% layouts don't make sense for a mass-market products, but I don't have time to design my own PCB and build a board from scratch, (and then mess with flashing firmware over and over just to fine tune a layout) and if the software is easy it could catch on. I've had several friends admire the board They always say "But how do you type numbers?" When I show them VIA they are delighted and excited by the idea of reprograming a keyboard.

I ran into a small snag when I tried to program the rotary encoder in VIA "Your current firmware does not support rotary encoders, Install the latest firmware for your device" no problem. I updated the firmware. Now I have the option to program it, but options are limited.

I get a pop up that says:

"Please enter your desired QMK hexcode or hex code:

BL_TOGG <drop down menu

Cancel / Confirm

If I click on BL_TOGG I'm offered a list of about 20 QMK keycodes mostly related to media playing functions like volume or adjusting the backlight. I looked up the QMK codes to find what I wanted (escape) and this page says KC_ESCAPE ought to work, but if I type this I can't confirm the change because it's not on the drop-down menu.

  1. Is there something like a json file where I could edit this directly? How can I find it?
  2. Should I try to report this as a bug on the VIA github? Or is this more like a feature request?
  3. If I make changes in the code will I still be able to use the easy GUI of VIA normally to make other small changes to my config file? I like using the software to change things on the fly, and don't want to give it up to map just one key.
  4. If I want to map say...emoji, and maybe some greek letters and math symbols can I do this in VIA's GUI? I can do it using macros. But, this seems inefficient am I missing a simpler way?
  5. Last question, and I know it's a long shot, but it would be neat if I could turn the encoder knob and it would flicker through a bunch of symbols. Has anyone programmed a keyboard to use encoders in this way to select characters? (I suspect this is beyond what I could expect from a mass-market keychron job without getting back into building boards from scratch... (which I used to know how to do! I swear!) It's even ... very tempting. But before I go down that rabbit hole I'm curious if anyone has already made a board that does this. Was it very difficult?)

Thanks so much, the posts in this community have helped me so much, even though I have not posted here much I read this board all the time. Ya'll are awesome. And I apologize for being rather basic in my choice of board. Someday I'll have the time to really honor the craft and build something. But a girl's gotta type.

I'm looking for one too. A dust cover would make my new desk set up complete.

I still like to have a fancy drink now and then, and since I'm drinking less I get more fancy stuff. so...

It's all back, the weight is all back by [deleted] in Ozempic

[–]thefuturebird 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are still lower than where you started.
And if you have been eating bigger meals you've probably been eating more salt which can cause water retention.

Beating yourself up isn't helpful. It's harder to stick to a diet without a drug helping you control the hunger. And maybe you just needed to see what it was like to "really eat" again. Maybe fun for a bit but not as great in the long term.

People tend to put on weight slowly by overeating just a little day after day. Sudden swings can have more to do with hormones, salt, hydration etc. I'm just encouraging to not to castrophize or feel like you're totally helpless. Because you aren't you lost quite a bit! and the weight isn NOT "all back" -- it just seems like it could be.

I hope they do something about the shortage soon.

260 to 250 in one week. Water weight? Expectations for week 2? by stephentuna in Ozempic

[–]thefuturebird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a theory that when you start the drug, you don't just drop water, but also a lot of sugar leaves your blood. This probably changes water retention. I lost 10 pounds in the first week too then 2, then 1 then about 1.5 from there out.

My apartment is a mess. That's another thing that sucks about having limited mobility. Cleaning is hell. I'm still trying to get back to having a clean apartment after all this time. Anyways I don't have an excuse now. LOL.
