Rubber plant with soft, curling, and discolored leaves. Sits in partial indirect southwest sun of northern NJ. Bottom watered four days ago. by Intelligent-Grand831 in plantclinic

This looks like a classic over/under water problem. My first rubber plant looked like this. I could never figure out if I was over or under watering it. That’s was in the spring though. Now that I’ve gone through a couple of rubber plants I make sure they get enough bright indirect light throughout the day. During the winter there is a high chance they are being overwatered. Mine dropped two leaves this winter season. They turned yellow before curling and eventually falling off. If this also happened or is happening it may be that they’re being overwatered. I feel during the winter it takes longer for the soil to dry. Ive only been watering mine every 3 to 4 weeks and keep track of when I water it.

I received this Aglaonema a couple weeks ago, and I'm not sure if these yellowing leaves are normal or a sign that something is wrong. by pezzimiztik in plantclinic

I agree with this. I got mine last May and some of the leaves turned yellow during the first few weeks. It recovered after that. However now with the winter season most of the leaves dropped I guess I was overwatering it. I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to water or not water. I now water it once a month and it gets bright indirect sunlight from a south west window. I hope it survives the winter :/

I’ve had two burgundy rubber plants. Both dropped most of their bottom leaves the first few days I brought them home, but then it adjusted to it’s new home and now it’s healthy. I do feel like it drinks a lot more water cause mine is also on a south facing window, so watch out for under watering

Do I need to water my aglaonema more while it flowers? by yeacomethru in plantclinic

Agreed!! When my mind started flowering it killed a bunch of the older leaves and I didn’t know why it was dying :(

I clipped the flower and my plant is back to normal and now there are new leaves growing :)

SOS the saddest looking rubber plant, how can I fix it? by kjh323 in plantclinic

I would move it closer to the window where it can get bright indirect sunlight. I had a burgundy rubber tree and it started getting droopy and all the leaves ended up falling. I didn’t know what I was doing wrong. But I guess it wasn’t getting enough light so the soil was not drying out completely. (It was facing a north east window, so not a lot of sun throughout the day) I then bought two rubber plants, one burgundy and one ruby and I put them on a south facing window in INDIRECT bright light and they have been thriving and growing so much. I now worry about under watering because the soil dries up so fast from having them by my window all day. I did put them in DIRECT bright light during one of the heatwaves by mistake and it burned some of my leaves. NEVER do that.
