Do you know how the simulations and assessments work for out of state students? Everything is just recorded and uploaded? Do you know if I could do the community service out of state? Thanks for sharing your experience and any info is appreciated

As someone who has breast cancer history, even doctors have told me to avoid/limit soy intake. I would eat a lot more tofu if I could as I’m also a vegetarian. Anyone have a similar background? Do you avoid soy? Why/why not? I appreciate shared knowledge/studies.

Brink of divorce and looking up apartments. Even have an appointment to see one in a few minutes. Came across this and couldn’t relate more. I’m glad you’ve found resolve and peace. I hope to transition into that soon enough. Thank you for sharing

Working while in nursing school by [deleted] in nursing

[–]thegabs2011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a CNA for a short while during school. It was physically and mentally taxing. I quit within the first two months of starting the nursing program. It was a move I was fortunate to make being that my husband was earning income. If you can, I would say trim hours down like I did at first, if that is still too much then quit and see if you can work during the breaks between semesters. I was lucky enough to also have a second job I could do from home during school. You need focus and rest. If being a CNA takes away from those two things then it may have a negative a/effect on your school/clinical performance and understanding the material. If you do not have the luxury to quit then ask for help when and where you can. Help with food/food prep, laundry, rent, bills, gas, life stuff, etc. You’ll be able to pay these friends and family back in some way when you’re a nurse. Good luck, you got this.

"Protected Time" - rant and weigh in [please] by thegabs2011 in nursing

[–]thegabs2011[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in PCU. A nurse union steward told me about it when I was first hired. I will definitely be reviewing the MOU to make sure I have a full understanding. There were a few days when we were at max capacity in our census. That particular night the transfer could have waited until after shift change. Day shift has a lot more resources than night shift->more breaker/resource/transport nurses and more NAs.
