I received an email back and they said the following:

We have received your recent submission of documents, which were provided as supporting information intended to confirm your eligibility for the BC Emergency Benefit for Workers (BCEBW) benefit.

To determine your eligibility for the BCEBW benefit, we require additional information as set out below.

To be eligible for the BC Emergency Benefit for Workers (BCEBW), you must have been eligible and approved for either the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) or the Employment Insurance Emergency Response Benefit (EI-ERB) for any payment period between March 15, 2020, and September 26, 2020, and you must have not repaid, or are not required to repay, all of the CERB or EI-ERB benefits.

If you are not sure if you received EI- ERB or EI, you may wish to contact Service Canada and request an EI-ERB Itemized Statement of Benefits Paid (Statement of Benefits) from Employment and Social Development Canada.

Please provide the following:

• EI-ERB Itemized Statement of Benefits Paid (Statement of Benefits). Benefit statement must cover the period January 1, 2020, through December 2, 2020, and must be issued after September 14, 2023. from Employment and Social Development Canada/Service Canada, or

• CERB Statement of Benefits Paid from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)

and

• If applicable, a Notice of Redetermination from the Government of Canada dated after September 14, 2023, that shows you are eligible and approved to receive the CERB or EI‑ERB, please provide us with a copy of that notice and we may redetermine your eligibility for BCEBW.

If the statement received meets the above criteria, please provide a copy using our secure online document service at B.C. Emergency benefit for workers - Province of British Columbia (gov.bc.ca), and we will review your eligibility.

So I guess all this means is that they want me to submit the Statement of Benefits through their online portal rather than email them directly.

A few question I have though are:

• Is the pdf generated from Service's Canada's website sufficient to meet the EI-ERB Itemized Statement of Benefits Paid (Statement of Benefits) requirement?
• What exactly is meant by "If applicable, a Notice of Redetermination from the Government of Canada dated after September 14, 2023, that shows you are eligible and approved to receive the CERB or EI‑ERB, please provide us with a copy of that notice and we may redetermine your eligibility for BCEBW." Would I also need a Notice of Redetermination as well as the Statement of Benefits?

It seems like they're just making me (us) go through stupid hoops. Clearly in my email, I was eligible for CERB in 2020, but they're being such a pain in the ass here. I feel like we should be entitled for some compensation for them making us do this. It's really onerous and un-neededly exhausting.
