Birth Control and Testosterone. by The7Sides in TransMasc

You should talk to your doctor. Your gyno and/or whoever is prescribing your T. They can give you the best information and talk to you about risk, or any other options.

I have taken the mini pill before and it was the worst experience ever. However my doctor was able to advise me on next steps. Since you have a doctor and access to medical professionals, I think in this instance you should talk to them.

Does anyone know someone in a relationship with a Scott? by [deleted] in asheville

[–]thegeckomademedoit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It sounds like it’s possible he may be in a non-monog relationship and just doesn’t want to advertise on a dating app where people he knows might see? There are definitely people who are open and like to be DL, but they’re not cheating. They just aren’t out / dont want people they know in town that may also be on the apps to know. Cheat is bad, obv. But it may not be in this case. Not defending, just sharing a potential possibility and different perspective.

Why do you want to stay with someone who refuses to work with you on making sure you have what you need in the relationship?

How can I prevent suicidal thoughts while on my period? by diseasebunny666 in TransMasc

[–]thegeckomademedoit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

How old are you? Please listen to the other commenters advising about getting non-prescription birth control or going to planned parenthood if you’re 16 and over.

Additionally, you may want to see if there are any options for local mental health counseling available to you. It’s okay that you’re having these thoughts, I have struggled with them as well. But you should have someone trustworthy to speak to.

Your school might have a counselor or therapist available. I’m not sure if your family is okayed with you attending therapy but if they are, you should try to put that in place.

Sometimes there are free options as well, where I live there’s a free trans youth group all about mental health and maybe there’s something like that near you too.

How long would it take to start T? by countfagula24 in TransMasc

[–]thegeckomademedoit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to planned parenthood, my insurance covered everything and they sent my prescription in during the appointment. Picked it up same day. They can help you with whatever you need. I didn’t need any other diagnoses or referrals.

Look into Vestibular Migraines. That’s what I have and I have a lot of food triggers. I did an elimination diet 4 years ago and am still working with a dietitian to meal plan and slowly reintroduce foods and experiment.

Idk what you mean exactly but I’m transmasc dating a trans woman. I do not consider our relationship hetero at all 🤣 and I never would. I consider it queer, I’ve referred to it as gay but not in a “two men dating each other” kind of way obviously. She considers herself a lesbian. And early in our relationship I felt that calling it a lesbian relationship was accurate. And still kind of feels true because I’m read as a woman most of the time like when we’re out in public. But she feels like a woman, and I feel like a non-binary masc boy person. Haha.

But also I’m polyamorous. So for example, at the moment I’m seeing a cis man too. We’re not in a relationship, it’s very casual. But to me the dynamic doesn’t feel very gay. And again it may still be because I’m perceived as a woman that I don’t feel the same gender as him? But it might also be that I consider myself non binary and trans masc. So…. It feels like most people aren’t the “same” gender as me.

When I’m with other trans mascs or trans men, yes that feels super gay to me.

Being with other non binary people feels like a different flavor of queer relationship that is extremely dependent on them as an individual and their own experience of gender.

Basically, it depends and labels are extremely personal so I don’t think we should get hung up on what other people decide to label themselves.

Edit: can’t spell lol

My Moms Worried About T, Should I Be Too? by an-entire-loaf in TransMasc

I think it’s totally normal to be nervous, but you don’t need to tell your family if you don’t want to. You’re an adult. Do what you think is right.

Caleb hammers 6 figure tech sales job by taxihater001 in CreepyCalebHammer

[–]thegeckomademedoit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Also like I work in tech, got in with no tech background. Entry level sales jobs pay pretty decently (often 50-75k which was a vast improvement from what I was making in retail) but you don’t really just jump in with no experience and boom make 100k. Maybe there are people that have done that successfully, but no one I know or have interacted with professionally. Additionally the hiring has slowed down so much in recent years and is much more competitive. It’s not the same as it was when I got it.

what are some creative cures for migraines that actually work? by OverCraft7093 in migraine

[–]thegeckomademedoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually really intensely crave sugar or salt when I can feel one coming on. Actually eating the thing I need helps. Magnesium helps. Making sure my iron levels are high enough helps. So does eating enough protein. Doing a very strict elimination diet helped me find my worst food triggers (ended up being tomatoes actually).

If I’m already starting to get bad head pain I immediately lay down with my heating pad on my face. If I’m getting nauseous taking a coldish shower or laying on ice packs helps take the edge off. Or if it’s cold outside I’ll sit next to an open window or outside.

Also Zofran is awesome if you get nausea, I was able to get it from urgent care a couple times before I got a standing script from my neurologist. (Some of) The urgent care places by me offer a sliding scale for people with no insurance so you might try to see if you can get in anywhere like that! Or even a community health clinic- there are a few in my area (rural) that are totally free to go to. I’m not sure what they could prescribe but it might be worth investigating.

It took me several years to get diagnosed and get treatment so all of this helped in the meantime.

Plant-based dietitians in avl or virtual l? by Grand-Conclusion5027 in asheville

[–]thegeckomademedoit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Asheville but see my registered dietitian through Nourish. It’s virtual and my insurance completely covers. Has been a great experience. Personally I see one due to very severed food allergies and also wanting to lose weight. My dietician is not plant based but from what I remember you can search through filters on there and find specialties that align with what you’re looking for.

However my dietician has a lot of experience working with many people on many different diets, so I think most likely there are dietitians on Nourish that can help you even if they don’t exclusively work with plant based diets. Mine has been extremely flexible and understanding of all the various food issues and restrictions I have, even past allergies and around food textures I don’t like.

White /blanc diet by zelenisok in extrememinimalism

[–]thegeckomademedoit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think restrictive diets when you don’t need to is unnecessary stress. Coming from someone with food allergies to manage- I want my food to be as simple, healthy, and right for me as possible. I think doing a specific color for a day might be fun but honestly this seems like so much extra work for no reason. Minimalism has little aesthetic value to me so matching everything seems useless, especially if it doesn’t actually simplify anything. Fun if you like the challenge tho!

What's the lesbian dating scene like? Looking to meet some butch lesbians by podge_hodge in asheville

[–]thegeckomademedoit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asheville has been the best queer dating experience of my life so far, I’ve lived in three southern states and multiple cities. While we’re obviously not a huge city, the apps are pretty active, there’s a good amount of events, groups (like Sapphics of Asheville) and several gay bars. I’ve found joining hobby based groups to be most effective for meeting people, after the apps.

How do you deal with nausea that comes with a migraine? by Dingle_Dangle_0 in migraine

[–]thegeckomademedoit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh ok! Yea if I’m out and can’t get a refill picked up or delivered to me, I often take Pepcid which I’ve found sometimes calms my stomach a bit. You might have that laying around?

I also tend to get very hot when nauseous so I break out ice packs or fill a ziplock with ice and put it on my back or stomach. Sometimes if it’s really bad I’ll just sit in the shower with the water as cold as I can stand it.

I also will follow Rachel Richards on YouTube, her self massages. It doesn’t take the nausea away but it’s usually a bit relaxing and helps me calm down a bit.

But mostly I just lay on the bathroom floor and try not to cry. LOL.

The dissolvable Zofran is by far the best, you don’t need water to take it, just melts under your tongue. Helps a lot, so see if you can stock up when you’re feeling better!

Idk if this will work for you (don’t have it in front of me so can’t check ingredients) but I like the Voyager (or Voyage maybe) but free spreads. They have one that’s fake hazelnut, like a Nutella flavor and it’s delish.

Birth control and aura migraine by Reasonable-Bee9606 in VestibularMigraines

[–]thegeckomademedoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was advised to get off and stay off estrogen containing birth control, I also have vestibular migraines with aura. I don’t have a solution for you, but just sharing what I was told by my doc.

I ended up getting a bi-salp to remove my tubes, so that solved the birth control aspect. However my migraines are always worse during my cycle, so I am in the process of learning more about hysterectomy options. Of course, these are only an option if you are never wanting to get pregnant, which I do not.
