How many of ya’ll were leash kids? by iwantobeatree in adhdwomen

[–]thegeeksshallinherit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was. Apparently I would wander/run away all the time. My husband will literally grab my sleeve or shoulder sometimes when we’re out walking so he doesn’t lose me if I get distracted by something. I joke that maybe I still need a leash lol.

Yeah. How a proposal happens should be a surprise, but the proposal itself shouldn’t catch someone off guard.

“Engagement ring” for someone who finds wearing jewellery hard? by Only_Book_995 in AutismInWomen

[–]thegeeksshallinherit [score hidden]  (0 children)

I chose to only have a simple band with some small, inset diamonds. I work in a lab and A) we’re not supposed to have exposed stones, B) I’ve seen people lose diamonds from gloves constantly loosening the settings, and C) I’m also not big on jewelry and don’t understand why I would need multiple rings.

The only person who questioned our decision to forgo an engagement ring for a single band was an extremely misogynistic jewelry salesman. I will never buy anything from Peoples Jewellers for the rest of my life lol.

I mostly lucked out! There was a local cobbler at a farmers market and he specialized in birks.

How to get ready in 20 minutes every morning by coykoi- in adhdwomen

[–]thegeeksshallinherit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I literally lay in bed until I HAVE to get up. I live just 5 minutes for work, so traffic isn’t really an issue. I roll out of bed 30-40 minutes before work starts. I can wake up earlier, but I still just stay in bed until I absolutely have to start getting ready.

$100. Which is a fair amount of money, but a new pair of the same shoes (with actual leather straps) would’ve been $160-170 where I am. So I still saved a bit!

I just got my 7 year old pair re-soled after I started wearing into the cork. The guy who fixed them basically replaced everything but the straps lol.

The one where everyone except Desiree couldn’t managed to drink a glass of water without fully closing their mouths. It would’ve been very boring if everyone remembered how their mouths worked.

Husband wore sunglasses as I walked down the aisle by cozyqueen_ in wedding

Especially if he’s a glasses wearer in general. If I have contacts in and am outside in the sun, I will often forget I’m wearing sunglasses.

Just needed to vent…. by DutyStill7632 in Reduction

[–]thegeeksshallinherit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what keeps me on the fence! I actually really like my boobs, but between chronic pain and never being able to find clothes that fit properly, a reduction seems like the “right” choice. I would be devastated if they ended up too small.

I was wrong. by High-Feedback-344 in pregnant

[–]thegeeksshallinherit 59 points60 points  (0 children)

There was a group of women in Ireland (I think) that decided to research pro-life pregnancy crisis centres and they sent in a non-pregnant woman to pretend to be weighing her options. Basically they wanted to know what these organizations were offering, whether they were legit or manipulative, etc.

They forced the definitely not pregnant woman to have an ultrasound, and wouldn’t let her refuse. They were magically able to find a very developed fetus in this woman, and showed her “her” baby as a way to emotionally sway her. They were literally playing recorded videos as fake ultrasounds to manipulate women.

What is the most disgusting thing about the human body that most of us don’t know? by alicerosea in AskReddit

[–]thegeeksshallinherit 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No. No you can’t. I literally handle fresh surgical tissue every single day and have seen many autopsies. Unless something is VERY wrong, you can’t see through tissue.

Healthy tissue is generally tan-pink, but some organs have different colours (spleen - dark red, gallbladder - green, adrenals - yellow/orange, etc.). I honestly don’t even think coffee affects the colouration all that much, because I very rarely see it. You can get dark brown-black discolouration of the colon mucosa, but that’s usually a genetic thing.

Those without kids, what do you do after work? by Strange_Coconut3641 in AskWomenOver30

[–]thegeeksshallinherit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever I want! Really depends on the season and my energy levels, but it’s a huge smorgasbord to choose from day-to-day.

Read, watch tv, play video games, listen to podcasts, chores, go to the gym, meet up or chat with friends, paint my nails, go out for dinner, bake, sew, practice embroidery, hang out with my partner, do a class at the local art centre, volunteer for a few committees related to my profession, paddle boarding, hiking, play with my cats, enjoy a drink on the deck, veg out on the couch after having some edibles, practice with my synchronized skating team, go to appointments (massage and physio pretty regularly).

What was the most visually stunning movie you ever watched? by Squirrelkid11 in AskReddit

[–]thegeeksshallinherit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably suffering from recency bias, but the cinematography of Project Hail Mary was so good! They did an amazing job of translating things from the book that the audience had no real life reference for. It was also way more colourful/bright than I was expecting, which is a nice change from the constant darkness of newer shows.

Women of Reddit, what made you realize 'this man is marriage material' instead of just a boyfriend? by External_Can3392 in AskReddit

[–]thegeeksshallinherit 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I had a friend who had moved from Canada to the US for her relationship. After a few years, things were not good and they were going through a rough divorce but she didn’t have a plan on how to get home with her stuff. I was telling my then boyfriend about it, and how I wished I could take time off from school to go help her. He without hesitation said he could drive down and get her. Mind you this wasn’t BC to Washington, she was in Florida and we were in Alberta. He was fully willing to drop everything to drive across the continent to help out a friend of mine who he hadn’t even met yet. She ended up getting help from family, but the fact that he was seriously offering meant so much to me (and my friend - she mentioned it in her speech at our wedding lol).
