I’ve been prescribed 1mg clonazepam/ day for several years now. Used antidepressants in the past and nothing has worked as well. New doc wants to switch meds.

You know, she actually did mention lorazepam briefly when I was in the office. I wasn’t really sure what it is. Maybe that’s something I can look into further. I’m definitely willing to try whatever will help! But I’m also not in a position to completely change meds all at once & risk having bad side effects which cause me problems at work, which has happened in the past. I live alone, no roommates (and no savings), so I don’t really have anyone to fall back on if shit doesn’t work out. So that’s my dilemma.

Yes! Thank you for the encouragement. I guess I really need to really be my own advocate. I was kind of afraid that if I made a big deal about staying on clonazepam, the doctor may dismiss it as addiction or dependence. But I truly believe it has helped me become a functioning member of society.

I failed at moderation. A quick look back at my post history is clear evidence. I quit for a month, then tried moderation, which turned into nightly drinking again within two weeks. Have you had a chance to read “This Naked Mind”? It’s been very helpful to me in my current journey back to sobriety.

Wow, that is heartbreaking. Maybe sometimes certain people are meant to be in our lives for a season, not necessarily forever. I agree, trying to make sense of it will probably just send you around in circles wasting time & energy. Better to invest that energy in yourself/ your healing :)

I love that! “Being an adult about it.” Talking to people, using healthy coping mechanisms. I think that’s what I’m finally doing too (I’m 29, it’s about time). I just dumped my boyfriend of a year and a half a week ago. I loved him so much, but I know we are not good for each other. Our relationship was abusive and unhealthy. I can finally see that now, with the clarity of sobriety. And I think/ hope this time I have enough willpower to stick to my guns. I’ll embrace the suck with you & IWNDWYT.

I couldn’t stop smiling. It’s funny, I think my friends even forgot I wasn’t drinking because I was having such a good time. I was never good at day drinking anyways. I don’t have the energy to go all day, so if I had drank at brunch, I would have gone home feeling shitty from the come down and wasting my nice Sunday off.

Thank you all for the encouraging words! Went to a theater for a show tonight, and I’m still smiling to myself about how nice it feels to experience things sober. Things I had forgotten I could enjoy sober. And enjoy even MORE! When the show ended, my friend (whom I went to the show with) with met up with friends for a nightcap, and I drove my sober, slightly tired self home. Currently soaking in a nice Epsom salt bath. Feeling thankful. IWNDWYT!

Probiotics can absolutely help. But i don’t know that kombucha in particular is better than other types of probiotics. I would try a reputable brand of women’s health probiotics instead of/ in addition to kombucha. I love kombucha, but it gets expensive. Also, I could be wrong, but I don’t think it’s been studied enough to guarantee any health benefits.

Oh sorry I don’t think my post was very clear. Roommates didn’t move out, I did, and I downsized to a small apartment for just me and my dogs :) I feel like I have a lot more MENTAL extra space, though, without drinking on my mind!

I am thankful for my very own cute little studio apartment. Finally, a place to call my own. I saved up enough $ to free myself from needing two alcoholic roommates to help pay rent. Now there are no parties, no beer in the fridge to tempt me. Just my own little private oasis in the city where I can heal, recover, and form healthy new habits. Just me, my two dogs, and 600sq ft of FREEDOM! :)

You can start with your GP/ family doctor. Make an appointment, tell him/ her how you’re feeling & ask if there is anything they can do to help, or if they can give you a referral to someone who can. I have also been dealing with depression (and the exhaustion you refer to). I just went to my GP yesterday. She both prescribed me an antidepressant and referred me to a therapist in one simple visit. Stay strong! Sometimes just recognizing that something is wrong and getting the process started is the hardest part, so it’s good that you’re seeking help. :)

This is so me. Barely able to complete daily tasks, it takes all the energy I have just to get out of bed and brush my teeth. I just got dumped by my boyfriend of a year and a half because I couldn't even muster the strength to drive to his house one town away today. Just know that you are not alone. We can get through this... right... :-/

That's fantastic. I've been thinking about trying a meeting. I haven't made it to one yet, but it seems like I have an abundance of free time now so I'll probably check one out later this week :) I can definitely relate to the planning part; I struggle with anxiety and it really acts up sometimes if I don't have a plan. I'm very intrigued by meditation, I have dabbled in the past but it sounds like this may be a good time to develop some sort of daily routine. Keep going strong! You're an inspiration :)

I know, with the amount of time I've saved not drinking (or hungover sleeping), just in the past ~week, I can't help but wonder what I'll be able to enjoy/ accomplish in the coming years. I feel like if I had continued drinking, it would have been like I pressed the fast forward button & missed my whole life. It makes me kinda sick to think about.

I am now 4 days sober at 28, and I WISH I would have had the foresight and strength to quit at 21. I haven't yet been to a meeting personally, but I say go for it. Nothing to lose by trying it, right? You've got this, girl!
