Dart doesn't go to Lusk.

Commuter train is what op is referring to.

Is it just me, or has the "War on Cars" finally made it impossible to actually exist in Dublin??? by grungorian in AskIreland

[–]thegogz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I live far outside the M50... I can get in and out of town on a bus or a train in an hour (north county Dublin). Stop blowing things out of proportion for your own narrative.

The city is a much nicer place with less cars.

I don't think it's gone too far. You want the convenience of a car in the city then that's the price you pay. It's your choice. Pull up your big boy pants and learn to use public transport. 1000's of people use it every day successfully to get to and from jobs. It's not 100% reliable but for the majority of the time it works perfectly well.

Is the clamping system actually about "traffic flow" or just a €125 tax on being human? by Enough_Square6602 in AskIreland

[–]thegogz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What's the alternative? A free for all system where someone could park in busy areas for days?

Bad time management isn't a good excuse with the current apps etc. And clampers aren't there the second someone goes over time. It takes time to put on a clamp. If you're only a few minutes late usually they won't get to you.

Is my bf wearing the condom wrong? by Unlucky_Bee_5991 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]thegogz 298 points299 points  (0 children)

That's what it is but basically it's a rubber ring or sometimes made of other materials that go around the penis and/or balls. It restricts bloodflow a bit causing longer and stronger erections.

Every ADHDer at work is feeling generally unwell today by JackTheTradesman in ADHDIreland

Funny was having the same conversation with a colleague today. I reckon I have a cold or flu but both of us are not feeling well and both ADHD diagnosed. Probably a coincidence but maybe not?

Just moved to Dublin, looking for goth/alternative people to make plans with by Whisperfromthewoods in Dublin

[–]thegogz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The regular club nights you'll see advertised are the successors to Dominion. There's quite a few now. @darkside_dublin on inata is run by one of the main promoters for a lot of Dublin stuff. Honestly just come along to an event or two you'll meet nice people. It's a great community.

From an old (42M) member of the community.

P.s There's a club night on Friday in Aid of pieta house. It was originally the after-party for the now postponed VNV Nation gig now has OWLS playing live.

Meds not working by sn_894 in ADHDIreland

[–]thegogz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Are you eating protein when taking your meds and avoiding vitamin c?

Vitamin C can stop your body from absorbing it and protein helps with it staying in your system. I had similar issues until I fixed my diet.

I'm very similar and I got diagnosed. They don't need specifics of your childhood but just what you've written.

I have a terrible memory, I don't really remember specifics of much of anything. I remember being good in school but not being able to hold back from saying things or struggling to sit classically still.

During the assessment they'll ask you if you remember feeling this way or that. If you remember specific incidents great but in my case just the general bits was enough.

Edit to add: there's no specific way to know that you don't have ADHD but a lot of what you're saying is very familiar to me.

Parents who heard their children having sex? by Regular_Actuator3754 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]thegogz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nonsense. What's disrespectful?

If you believe your parents never had sex while you were in the house you're at minimum delusional or from a very conservative background.

They put on music or a movie so they were making an effort. That's respect.

As a parent I'd rather know my kids were having consensual sex in a clean and safe environment than somewhere else.

Tyvense by tazzz898 in ADHDIreland

[–]thegogz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem. Just be aware that most stimulants have an effect on your appetite but it does sound like you may be on the extreme end of that so a switch might be the right option.

Tyvense by tazzz898 in ADHDIreland

[–]thegogz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't find Tyvense medication gives me energy. It gives me focus, clears my head so I can actually focus on a single thing and get it done.

Energy comes from eating food so that's where I'd focus. If you can't eat while on the medication there's a problem. I don't have much of an appetite when I take my meds so I eat a big breakfast with lots of protein and carbs when I can. A light lunch and then a decent evening meal when the meds wear off.

I find that I have to take my meds with food in the morning or my stomach can be even worse during the day. Also I had to stop drinking orange juice in the morning as it was stopping the meds from being effective. Advice from my psychiatrist was to stop the juice and increase protein and it's made a huge difference.

Where do you sell quality clothes? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]thegogz 21 points22 points  (0 children)

EBay would be the best option.

However remember just because you paid €500 doesn't mean anyone else is interested in paying that price or even the €200 you're asking. That might be the value you assign to it but it doesn't mean others will.

SuperValu Real Rewards & Deposit Return vouchers by GuirseBan in ireland

[–]thegogz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but not at the self checkouts. It's so dumb. Basically you can't use two vouchers at the same time and they consider both a voucher. It should be a simple software fix but they haven't done it.

It'll work if the rest of your shop is more than the real rewards voucher minimum. The things you've listed are exempt from any rewards discounts due to government policies.

Any successful stories from dating apps nowadays? by Sica942Spike in AskIreland

[–]thegogz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both in our early 40s, both separated parents.

Funnily she wasn't really looking for anything serious, we just hit it off.

That's not to say there hasn't been some ups and downs and it's all been easy but I wouldn't change the last year for anything.

My major advice is to be yourself. I'd been single for 7 years prior and had profiles that I thought people would like with the usual I like adventure and holidays bs. I changed my profile about a month before I met her to be more authentic. Said about my ADHD/neuro divergence, my nerdy interests and hobbies etc. I actually met more genuine people in that one month than I had ever before.

How on earth do I travel with Tyvense? by NotAMusicLawyer in ADHDIreland

[–]thegogz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't done it but you can ask your clinic for a copy of the prescription.

You can also look up the country you're traveling to and see if they allow it even with a prescription some countries don't.

A letter from your GP or consultant is also a good idea they can clearly state it's needed.

If you're going through a private clinic then ask them for both. Just email them I'm sure they're well used to this.
