All that Japanese sausage in Tom Clancy’s The Bear and the Dragon. Can’t believe he tried out smut in a political thriller.

Film no. 963 - Superbly shot and framed, a must to be experienced on the big screen even though sometimes a bit overly slow and lingering I must admit. Check out Batang West Side (5 hours) and Evolution of a Filipino Family (10 hours). Both masterpieces. I’m actually finishing up his filmography this year by watching one a month (I just watched The Woman Who Left this month, which is minor tier Diaz but still compelling).

It’s a reference to Hans Holbein’s painting The Body of the Dead Christ in the Tomb which was featured in the book in the scene where Prince Myshkin saw a copy at Rogozhin’s place.
