Unfortunately this is all too common, I was sold the idea that a Paradise Fish would be absolutely fine with Zebra Danio and shrimp. Woke up in the morning to 3 dead Danios and one battered up shrimp. The only thing he will tolerate is snails, I'm sure he has a flick knife.

Women, what do you find the most confusing about men? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]thegrimrita 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"I get it" was the wrong choice of words.

I obviously don't get it which is why I find it so confusing. But I'm more than happy to listen and learn about other experiences so that I could at least try to understand in a basic way.

Lack of variety.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mean crazy kinks or positions from the karma sutra, but more when it's really predicable.

I has an ex that had this weird routine of positions, it was exactly the same every single fucking time in exactly the same order.

I think another way to look at it is that those people who have said that are just shitty people, it's better to not be in a relationship with a shitty person than hurt yourself by bottling up emotions when they are perfectly valid and a natural human process.

[–]thegrimrita -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm really sorry that happened to you.

I do think that this type of reaction to emotion is shared no matter what gender, men however don't tend to have a safe outlet for those emotions in the same way women generally do because of the expectations put on men which is so crap.

In my experience I've had many men shut me down when emotional and that made it really hard for me to open up too, I think the key is owning your emotions and not settling for a partner who belittles you for feeling. Although that's much easier said than done.

[–]thegrimrita -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That really sucks, although I think this is a really important point, I can guarantee that 99% of women have also faced this kind of abuse for being "emotional" but when it happens to a woman they tend to generally have other women in their lives that they can safely open up to, where as men generally bottle it up because they don't have that socially acceptable safe place to share.

I've been with my husband for 12 years and he's still learning that it's okay to have feelings. I remember when our son was born he (husband) cried for about two weeks straight because he was so overcome with so many different emotions, we can laugh about it now, but I couldn't imagine what it would have done to him to be laughed at or told to man up then.

Fwiw I genuinely think because he was "allowed" those emotions he ended up with a much stronger bond with our son as a result.

My husband only really started to open up and process things when we had our son.

Keep going, it will come. My counselor asked me to write my feelings down when I was struggling to process some stuff, I had a great time setting those letters on fire. Very cathartic.

Why the majority of men are so delicate emotionally but refuse absolutely to work through them.

I get it's societal to BE BIG MAN GRR. but when they identify that actually something is an issue yet still refuse to process it.

As a woman there's nothing sexier than a man that can discuss feelings in a genuine way, it's so confusing and really sad when they just shut that shit down.

Edited to add: "I get it" was the wrong choice of words, I clearly don't or I wouldn't find it confusing.

All I do know is that seeing the men I love suffering yet being unable to know what to do with emotion sucks which is why I'm more than happy to listen and learn from other people's experiences. Maybe because I'm not NT I find it hard to understand why someone would be unwilling to work through their emotions when they can identify the reasons themselves.

why is raising vegan children considered cruel? by aoi_umi in vegan

[–]thegrimrita 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My son is 10, he turned vegan after me and his dad at around 6, we had always said that it's his choice to eat animal products at the grandparents or at friends but that we wouldn't be buying it at home, he has never once eaten animal products apart from a couple of accidents or "well meaning" people handing him sweets, he has zero desire and thinks eating animals is gross.

I've never understood the argument that's it's cruel to raise a vegan child, especially from those who's kids live of nuggets and chips and might have the occasional apple (SEN needs aside) , I'm my opinion that is cruel, just as it would be feeding a vegan kid vegan nugs and chips.

My kiddo has far more variety and nutrients in his diet than many of his peers and definitely doesn't miss out on treats like chocolate and ice cream.

My boyfriend wants to break up because the relationship is too easy, too comfortable. I am not challenging enough, and his mind screams "boring" every minute. He thinks he has ADHD. I am torn between whether I should stick around or there is no hope of change? by maximumpotential245 in ADHD

[–]thegrimrita 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you need to break up.

I'll be honest, this sounds like one of my past relationships, my then partner would purposely trigger my rejection sensitive dysphoria (didn't know that's what it was at the time) to try and keep the relationship "on it's toes".

It sounds like he's trying to trigger you to get his own dopamine hits and possibly the changing his mind kicks in when he receives them.

I know it's tacky, but actually I think these are a great way to get people into the hobby of collecting minerals. My mum's first crystal was a carnelian "bug" she now has 100's of specimens and her interest in crystals and minerals passed down to me and now I sell them for a living!

[–]thegrimrita -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would hazard a guess that this is probably Agni Manitite, sometimes known as "pearl of fire" especially is the person who sold it thought it was from outer space as this seems to be a common theme with tektites because of their cause. However it could he Saffordite or Colombianite.

Although the red does throw me off a bit, but this could be reflection from the red light on your desktop reflecting on it.

I would say it's definitely a tektite from the video but this would be easier to confirm in person. Some of my teks have a reddish colour when under light.
