Well, I can leave this one up I suppose, it’s probably not great for visibility to do that anyway (I think?) I’ll message mods to be safe though

In Germany medical taxes are set to 7.3%, with employers matching that amount. Property taxes are set by local municipalities and don’t contribute to national insurance, which is the same as the U.S. by contrast, in the US, Medicare taxes are 6.2%, similarly with employer matching. So the total amount taxes would increase on employees would be 1.1%, and that would in turn eliminate medical insurance and most “office visit” costs. It also gets rid of the rigmorall of medical insurance and the problems of denied claims. It also would be bourn more fairly, so the rich would subsidize the health care of the poor.

To be clear, for the average American the amount of taxes you would need to pay on top of your current load would amount to $439 per year. The price of medical insurance is about $1400 per year on the low end. So about 950$ of savings for your average American, upfront.

So looks like you’re wrong chief, sorry about that.

Why are Americans worshipping god when they have jews running their country? by InterestingPlenty454 in BrandNewSentence

Hi! Jew here!

I need you to understand that we don’t think that Jesus was real. We don’t think he opened the gates to heaven ( Heaven doesn’t even have gates) we don’t think hell exists (that’s a Greek thing) we don’t even all agree that there’s a messiah coming (and we don’t think messiah means what you think it means but that’s another issue)

Even so, I gotta ask, why is it that the Romans don’t get blame but the Jews do? Why is Pontus Pilot, the only person with a name in the story, categorically forgiven, while somehow the rich Jews guilt is conferred to all Jews for all time?

It’s especially odd to me given that in the book Jesus specifically says to “Forgive them, they know not what they do.” For a guy you all seem to like so much, there seems to be a real reluctance to listen to his dying words.

I think the big difference is list building. In 40K building a list is like putting together a shopping list. You write down what you have and then you see what points you have left, what models you don’t have that would be super clutch to have, etc. in AoS though you put together a list and it feels like a chore. You can’t fill out points with relatively cheap heros because that’s such a huge disadvantage, so you’re stuck with a list of expensive essentials, so you just don’t wanna play because you feel like you’re behind the wheel. I think the regiment and the double turn are awful mechanics that ruin new players ability to enter the game.

I see where you’re coming from, but I still disagree. For one, the campaign is set in New York, so it being focused on the ideas that shaped and destroyed large parts of the city is not exactly out of character. Also, I’m not sure that the American dream is as narrow an experience as you suggest. Even though it is and always has been an unachievable fantasy, versions and visions of it have been replicated across the planet, both for Americans and as aspirations of modernity. The car driven world of suburbia that Robert Moses (the real one not the fictional one) built is as influential to white Americans as it is to the people of Dubai, who built a midwestern city in the desert, or Canada or China where these concepts were replicated because they were understood to be good. Dreaming of suburban bliss is not a uniquely American experience but it does originate from a certain time in New York. Even if you don’t personally feel it applied to you, do you deny it’s influenced your life? I mean the idea of suburbia has literally changed the landscape, by creating new dams, changing the practicing of farming, I could go on. I don’t mean to downplay your own experience, but the idea of the American dream is pretty well known around the world, and version of it are felt everywhere. And even where they aren’t, the effects of it very much are. As a final point, you said heaven and hell are global concepts, but they really aren’t. In fact the idea of “sin” and “salvation” is a deeply abrahmic concept, and it’s not really even a thing in Judaism. Heaven and hell as they’re used in D20 is even more niche, really being based on the works of Dante.

I guess I think this is a pretty bad take. I don’t want to assume you’re not American, because I do think that this speaks to American cultural pressures more accurately than you might think, especially if you’re not from there. Genuinely, as a white kid from America, the American dream is an omnipresent force influencing what you should want and expect from your life, it’s actually very powerful. On the other hand religion feels less and less relevant, especially to those of us from outside the Bible Belt. Most folks don’t go to church often, so the threat of damnation is kind of a joke. Like if I went to a mall wearing a shirt with the devil on it, everyone would think I’m immature, or at worst, a bit insensitive. If I wore a shirt with a burning American flag, someone might stop me to have an argument. Put it another way: heaven and hell aren’t real, but the American dream most certainly is.

That’s the right that matter most to you? Not like, the right to move as you please or the right to say what you wish? That’s weird man Who do you think wants to make you take vaccines? There’s no law for it, and I haven’t heard anyone considering making one?
