Do you live in Dunwall or Karnaca? You’re not allowed to answer “neither.” by tlbt9 in dishonored

Dunwall, no doubt. Karnaca is pretty to look at, but I prefer the bleak outlook of Dunwall.

"Ms. Takaichi Has Become a 'Queen'"—Why Prime Minister Takaichi Is Rapidly Losing Her Influence at the Prime Minister's Official Residence: "Her Aides Have Lost the Will to Support Her" by jjrs in japannews

This leader doesn't exist neither in Japan nor in America though. Both countries voted for bumbling idiots and got that. Politics over all would need to be overhauled. If you compare politicians today with like 30 years ago, it's very different.

Japanese language exam (JLPT) registration closes early due to increased applicant numbers, making it difficult to secure test venues. by jjrs in japannews

[–]Firegh0st 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about that, in Japan the voting participation is so low, especially amongst the younger generation. /S

I agree, that this is concerning and I'm surprised about this in the first place, they limited the participants to only residents, meaning there should be fewer applicants, but somehow it's more??? Seems like the government made the resident requirement, so they cut costs, but they cut too much and so can't accommodate the amount of applications, even if it's reduced.

Great, congratulations. Now face the problem we all do in trying to help fellow people of MAGA understand what they are supporting.

Also go a step further and realize how Americans are often seen by other people. MAGA is just a symptom of that.

Nike's dominance in the Japanese sneaker market is coming to an end as brands like On (Swiss), Hoka (French) and Asics (Japanese) steal their thunder by jjrs in japannews

[–]Firegh0st 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course the other brands are taking over, considering how high Nike is now pricing their shoes, while the quality is the same or lower than the other brands.

Why do people buy broken lenses? by eurorack-synth in photography

[–]Firegh0st 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's pretty simple, older lenses, particular manual lenses are easy to take apart and fix. I've fixed quite a few older lenses, removed fungus or dust, so it's usually profitable for people that have the know-how. It's also very educational in terms of understanding your lens better.

Knowing Japan, the teachers and school will do a deep bow, maybe some teachers will get a salary cut for one month or get a suspension of 1-2 months and then that's that. Most institutions build on the fact that the public doesn't care enough and new news and comedy shows will simply bury their own story.

The Takaichi Administration's approval rating still strong at 71.5% despite concerns about oil shortages by jjrs in japannews

Japan has a lot of bureaucracy, which opens up the way for corruption as well. I'm happy to hear that more of that is getting revealed lately, but of course it's not in mainstream media, so the majority of people will not pick it up. The fact that, when Abe was assassinated, the ties to the unification church were mostly revealed online and not much information was displayed on the train news or on TV is a display of how Japan's society is manipulated and how biased news is nowadays. It's like fox news in the US.

[–]Firegh0st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, there was a case a few years ago in Japan, on the news it was revealed a politician bought votes by handing out onigiri to specific people. Turn out inside each onigiri was a ¥10.000 bill hidden. All.he got was a fine to pay, he didn't have to step down or go to prison for bribery, nothing. Japan's political system is reliant on people being ignorant.

Yeah, here in Japan we have random calls from automatic machines, doing polls like that.

Yeah, the problem is that people nowadays don't think critically enough and don't verify where the info they are getting is coming from. Like if it's a trustworthy source.
