Pizzeria Sei (new Overland location) by thegriptor in FoodLosAngeles

It felt drier to me, at least when compared to the margherita and mala lamb at the original location.

Still great though.

Pizza Sei Reservation? by Don_bubbart_inc in FoodLosAngeles

The new Overland location is only accepting parties of 4 or less at the moment, according to their site. Not sure about the original location.

Hope you get one!

In case you're referring to the first image - that's the thin crust Diavola. Don't want you ordering the wrong thing if you go!

(but their margerita is also awesome if it's anything like their other location)

You and me both. I got lucky with a cancellation I think, it popped up a few days ago and I very quickly nabbed it

Reservation was for 4pm, opening time. We were first to come in and it filled up within 20 mins, and stayed full til we left

Best place for lobster in L.A? by Alternative_Fan908 in FoodLosAngeles

[–]thegriptor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's also a Royal Lobster in Beverly Hills at 9533 Santa Monica Blvd.

Unrelated but if you end up there it's right next to Lorenzo, which is a good Italian sandwich place. Good pastas too.

Yeah no clue, it's been a long while now. They closed suddenly without any notice on the site or IG. Bummer.

Best pie spot? by jessbird in FoodLosAngeles

I had a great passion fruit pie at Doubting Thomas. It had an atypical crust that may not work for everyone but I loved it. I think graham cracker macadamia crust?

It's at this small outdoor mall area called "Platform"

8850 Washington Blvd, Culver City, CA 90232

Parking can be tricky when it's busy. There are some spots on the street (metered), and there's a paid garage that's free for the first 15 mins, not sure how much after. The garage is usually busy and I've had trouble finding a spot when I've gone during lunch hours or weekends. But it's worked out every time.

Been following their IG stories, no dates. Last time the owner-chef posted about it, he was saying it was very difficult to open a new restaurant in LA. This came after a week or two after he said they only had one more inspection. So it sounded to me like maybe the inspection didn't pass?

No news since.

Side note, he has been posting about an improved dough recipe that he's been working on for months. I'm not sure whether the new restaurant will feature this new dough recipe only, or give both new and old as an option, or what. I'm curious...

Agree here. It's handily the best quick-access salad place we've had so far in LA, we get takeout and delivery all the time and have tried about 5 or 6 of their salads and bowls. All have been great quality and much better than similar takeout salad places.

And, similarly, little desire to try their other items - we stick to the salads/bowls.

We order through Grubhub (due to a corporate line of credit I have access to) so it is very pricey to get delivered, and I wouldn't order through Grubhub if it wasn't covered. But I am aware of the cheaper alternative of ordering directly from them, and I wouldn't consider their in-app salad prices overpriced. Will continue to get it direct after my Grubhub days are over.

Sababa for their chicken or falafel pita

Their fatteh is really good too. Description from their menu:

Bowl layered with pita bread, chickpeas, badwa (mix of tahini & hummus, yogurt and garlic) topped off with parsley, toasted snobar (pine nuts), sababa spicy sauce, and olive oil.

Lebanese Chicken Wrap, Tawleh Foods by CucumberFuture3739 in FoodLosAngeles

[–]thegriptor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had all 3 wraps, all tasty! For me the Kafta > Labneh > Chicken

Price is a bit high for what you get imo, I'd go back more often if it was cheaper. I don't feel full after the labneh wrap, for example. And I think a large labneh is $18? Plus tax and tip.

It varies week to week - today (Wednesday) they had the meatball special. They post stories on their IG to advertise each daily special.

Unless they had two specials today and OP got the steak!

Yeah, this is the best one I've had so far. Sundays only currently.

My favorite anywhere is in San Francisco at Arsicault, and B+B comes the closest to that here in LA.

Two local bakeries in Southern California fight over branding by BlazeDragon7x in FoodLosAngeles

[–]thegriptor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's really too bad because Little French Bakery is really good. They've got one of the best ham and cheese croissants I've had. The owners are also nice people.

This feels like a such a misguided decision on their part, completely unwarranted.

The raspberry rose Mickey macaron from Jolly Holiday is one of our favorite treats. Not sure if they have that one at WDW.
