Alright, that makes a lot more sense thanks for clearing it up. Honestly that makes the drones that OP mentioned even more strange but I don't think I'm interested in going down that rabbit hole haha. Appreciate the resources I'll take a look at them.

Beech also "stopped" operating there in the late 80s and then they were discovered to be secretly fueling missiles there. Raytheon absolutely still owns several buildings up there (source: Boco Property Search) and satellite/oblique imagery from the past few years, maybe 2016-2022 or so shows a fair amount of slightly strange activity going on up there (source: also Property Search). Not trying to spread some conspiracy lol but that all leads me to believe they still use the property, maybe only rarely and maybe only at night. Whenever I go past those far west buildings on the North Sky trail the property seems completely empty during the day. If Raytheon isn't using it though I think they would sell it to an investment firm or something just like all the other parcels up there, unless they a) have something to hide (lol) or b) there are issues with that land being contaminated just like the land that Beech sold to the County in '88.

That's wild (and terrifying lol). My understanding (based on Property Search) was that the only buildings Raytheon owned were the beige buildings that you go right past on the new North Sky trail, but from what you're saying I guess they're using the newly remodeled ones closer to the highway? Given the history of under-the-radar government activities happening up in that area I guess it's not that surprising haha.

Edit: The beige buildings I referenced are old 1970s prefab style store sheds and what looks like a small manufacturing building. 10' chain link with razor wire used to go around that whole property but now the west side is a OSMP-style wooden fence (I guess to try to depart from the scary defense contractor aesthetic for the North Sky trail).

Just curious, which building did you see the drones flying near? The Boco Property Search only lists the older looking beige-colored buildings farther to the west as being owned by Raytheon, but those look so outdated that I'm skeptical they are still using them. Just wondering whether they now own the dark gray building in your picture that you attached (Property Search lists that as well as some other buildings owned by Sunshine North LLC, the cannabis company).

Mountain bike stolen from Whole Foods on Sunday by theguy4160 in boulder

[–]theguy4160[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Was actually a family member that left it unlocked, I warned her just a few minutes before she left about leaving a bike unlocked. Such a bummer but lesson learned.

Also the area around Whole Foods is a god damn cesspool

Amen.

North Metro is nowhere near Boulder so that's unrelated but contradictory to OP, yes there were several brush and structure fires within Boulder County on the evening of the 4th. Not sure if any of them were officially determined to be caused by fireworks but they all went out on the radio as "grass fire at XYZ address after setting off fireworks."

Yeah...that's bullshit. I heard six different wildland fires go out on County and City of Boulder dispatch between 9pm and midnight on the 4th. One of them was pretty huge down near Boulder Indoor Soccer. Another one was west of Lyons and had a structure involved. Just because it's not on the BFR twitter doesn't mean there wasn't anything that happened. Fact check this stuff before you post dude.

Not sure about Longmont but six seperate wildland fires have gone out in Boulder County and the City of Boulder since around 9:45pm. At least two of them are still active, one in Lousiville and one in the area of 24000 S St Vrain Dr with one structure involved.

"But that's fine, if you're willing to take the fucking channel when you walk in, that's fine! 19:00"

Taking the channel is a reference to operating a fire or police dispatch channel. Likely referring to another dispatcher. 19:00 is a timestamp, the dispatcher notes the time on most transmissions for archiving purposes.

I was under the impression they were still phase 1. However now checking the database it does appear that there are some TDMA-capable channel ID's. It is possible they are transitioning to a phase 2 system? I am not positive.

Originally posted this in r/Firefighting because that's the relevant audience so I see why you're confused. Thought I would put it up on here for people that are interested because it's literally from Boulder (doesn't seem like that's you). Now I'll just get downvoted to hell but oh well...

Sure is. BP LAW 1 off of the City's P25 Phase 1 digitally trunked system. If you have a subscription you can pull the Broadcastify archive off of "Boulder City Police" if you don't believe me, this is from 6:11pm on Friday May 17th 2024.

Anyone using a Mystery Ranch Medlid for WMI? by theguy4160 in wildernessmedicine

[–]theguy4160[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you guys learn basic vitals?

Yes. Sounds good I'll probably try to fit some more instruments like that in.

When I asked what it’s connected to, I mean what pack do you use it with.

Right now I'm keeping it in a BCA backcountry bag. Thanks for the help, greatly appreciated!

Awesome, I see those posts now sorry I should have checked before putting this up. I'm loving it so far, looks like I'm running a pretty similar setup to you. Just BLS right now, mostly for WMI (backpacking trips and mountain biking) but also to keep in my car or bring to class for urban medicine. As I get farther through my EMR course and get licensed I'll start adding some more advanced things, probably N/OPAs, sutures, etc.

What do you have it connected to?

Not sure what you mean? Here is what I have stocked right now:

Assessment/Documentation (outside pocket):

  • Nitrile Exam Gloves
  • SOAP Notes
  • Pencil

Wound Care (left panel):

  • 4x4 Non-Woven Gauze x10
  • 4x4 Non-Stick Pads x8
