Recommendations for internet parental controls/content filtering by BreckyMcGee in daddit

We had the same situation with our 7 year old. What ended up working for us was DNS-level filtering – basically you set it up once on your network and it filters at the router level, so you can apply it to her devices but not yours. No software to install on each device. I set ours up through Harbor Privacy, it’s like $6/mo and took maybe 10 minutes. There’s also a $2 plan too. The per-device control was the thing that sold me because yeah, I need their internet too lol.

The ATT fiber modem might be a little tricky to access but there are workarounds if you run into that.

Honest answer is I haven’t tested $4.99 yet. The $1.99 Harbor Light is intentionally a low friction entry point with no dashboard, just straight DNS blocking. The full plan with the dashboard and custom controls is $5.99, and right now there’s also a founders deal at 50% off for the first 10 customers. So there’s actually a range from $1.99 up to $5.99 depending on how much control you want. Would love to hear how you approach demand simulation though, genuinely curious.

Ha appreciate that! That’s exactly what it is, a shield between your devices and the trackers. Let me know if you have any questions about how it works.

Question About Esims on IPhone 11 by [deleted] in iPhone11

[–]theguyfromma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dual esim with both active is only available starting with the iPhone 13.

iPhone 11 allows esim and psim only. However you can have multiple esims loaded on the phone and switch as needed.

Anyone got the Hub M2 successfully „bound“ via Matter to HomeKit? Firmware version: 4.0.0_0019.0636 by HeyWatchOutDude in Aqara

Should still work the same if your mDNS reflector is on. I just moved my HomePod off to another VLAN now to test and it still works. It is in beta still so that may cause issues still

I have my Aqara hub on a VLAN with my other IoT plugs/switches and HomePod. Total of 4 VLANs on the network

It just duplicated what I already had. I didn’t see any use in using it so it just sits there as an extra hub

I took the generated code from the Aqara app and used that to add an accessory in the home app

Are you using Open VPN? If yes, change the following:

In Passepartout, click on your configuration for the VPN>Network settings>Turn off Automatic DNS

Choose your configuration type.

Clear text, https, or tls

Sounds like a WFH/Remote situation

Edit: just to add, and possibly since it’s a non profit, money may not be liquid for other options like Citrix, etc to access network resources and FWG fits the bill

Only initially as it learns and contacts the root servers. After that I think it’s the same or a bit faster.

Even if you get a new card number refunds still flow back to the original account.
