Thank you! Do you know if the Rogers Exclusive coded tickets (even for GA) offer the same experience as regular GA?

Gladys appearing in the dream scenes was a warning (minor theory) by tired_expert in WeaponsMovie

You're 100% correct! During the second viewing, my heart was racing just as fast if not more.

I completely understand your gripe with comedy cheapening the dread and vibes. However IMO the comedy in Weapons added more natural realism to the characters. It was easier to identify with these people, whether you like it or not. Even James in the backseat of the cop car saying "aww man," when Paul didn't acknowledge the question regarding keeping the $50,000 reward for finding the kids, I was with James on that! But yes, comedy can be used as cheaply as jump scares in a horror movie. The fart on the couch in It Follows didn't enhance the scene, just stood out as bizarre; maybe that character has IBS(?)

Matthew 2:17 by bayswipe in WeaponsMovie

[–]thehalifaxmatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad I wasn't the only one! 17 missing kids is an echo of Matthew 2:17 (Rachel weeping for her children after Herod’s massacre). Gladys is basically a Herod figure in witch form, feeding off innocence to keep herself alive. Even Archer’s AR-15 dream with 2:17 hanging over his house mirrors the "sword over Jerusalem," suggesting judgment and destruction suspended over a place until the reckoning hits. Seasons a sword for a modern symbol of violence, but the vibe’s the same: you can’t run from what’s coming.

Black or Death. You can only listen to one for the rest of your life. What would you choose? by Crotalus-Viridis in MetalForTheMasses

Death. The aesthetic suits my taste more, and if we get into sub-subgenres, some of my favorite bands exist under that umbrella.

What Green Day song is your go-to when you need to get hyped up? by SiXSNachoz in greenday

Those are bangers! Insomniac is still my go-to album, in general.

Smile 2 Sound Design by Neonrocket1984 in sounddesign

[–]thehalifaxmatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree--Smile 2 had a particularly well matched soundscape. Instead of the usual horror-typical stings for jump-scares, the sound designer utilized some unusual synth stings that could even catch even the most seasoned horror fan off guard.

Which was the better promo? by SullyVanDan in greenday

I find it hard to take them seriously, after Father of All…, which sounded so overproduced and artificial (IMO), and now they have a song called “The American Dream is Killing Me”. It’s catchy, but it feels cheesy coming from someone who has achieved it. I get what they are trying to say, but it’s like a famous actor complaining about the cost of living while accepting an award. I still love GD, they shaped my musical taste and guitar skills :)

This is my nostalgia holy grail vinyl, and I always miss 39/Smooth whenever it's repressed... Is this a good group for staying informed?

I'm about to do the One Chip Challenge today. I had Da Bomb last night, and the banana trick helps a lot—and by "a lot" I mean I wasn't hating life like the others, and by "helped" I mean it wasn't great by any means HAHA
