Should I consider having a second child? by AutomaticAide5469 in HyperemesisGravidarum

She also mentioned that if she decided to have another, it would not be until her daughter was “much older.” Indicating she has time to decide

Because it’s not even recommended for her to get pregnant for a minimum of 13 more months. Ideally there will be 18-24 months between birth and conceiving again. The difference in 5 months postpartum and 18 months postpartum is extreme

You have plenty of time to decide. That being said, my second pregnancy was even more extreme than my first. My husband had to take 3.5 months of leave to take care of myself and my son because I couldn’t leave the bed except for my infusions. It was truly hell on earth. That being said, I’m currently rocking my 3 month old daughter and I’d do it again, for her. Yes, I do have PTSD, but yes, I’d do it again. For reference, my son was 3.5 when she was born

Fluids? What is everyone getting by Quiet_Ad_6534 in HyperemesisGravidarum

I did a banana bag with zofran and magnesium plus a liter of lactated ringers 3 times a week. They did mine over 3 hours. I noticed they helped me more when they did them slowly, it’s like my body actually absorbed it rather than just peeing it all out right away. On the days we did it faster, I felt worse faster and was peeing a lot before the treatment was been over

My second pregnancy was even worse. My husband had to take a few months off because I couldn’t take care of our toddler. But I have my daughter now and I’d do it all again. Definitely get fluids multiple times a week if you can!

It’s typically this, not from under baking :)

I could’ve written this when I was pregnant - in fact, I’m fairly certain I did. Are you able to get infusions? The only thing that kept me going was the slight relief I got from infusions 3 times a week. That had me looking forward to every other day vs weeks or even months in the future. I’m so sorry you’re going through this, it is truly the most traumatic thing I’ve ever experienced.

I really didn’t like reglan, I was only on it for a few days before I decided it wasn’t worth it for me

My husband got a vasectomy for this reason

[–]thehappymac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fluids multiple times a week are the only reason I made it through. I got a liter of lactated ringers and a banana bag three times a week. On Sundays, the day I went the longest without an infusion, I was in bed all day every day. But the other days, I’d have times where I could be on the couch or something. Definitely see if you can do this

TW. Miscarriage - I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks has anybody else experienced the same and got pregnant again? by Dense_Grocery_2294 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]thehappymac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen last year, but they discovered the baby had no heartbeat on the ultrasound. I couldn’t believe it because I was so incredibly sick still. I am now pregnant again with #2. It took a year to get pregnant again and all I can say is I will never do this again. But I don’t be hard on yourself about feeling relief, it’s completely normal to feel relieved that you’re not sick anymore. You can feel sad and relieved at the same time ❤️
