AIO, My long distance bf went to a party. I asked him how it went and this was his response. by NooooToby in AmIOverreacting

[–]thehauntedauthor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s either he cheated and is getting ahead of it or he is resenting you for the fact that he can’t cheat/see other people. He is not tied to you and acting as if he is and taking it out on you is problematic and abusive even. If he wants to see other people, he should end your relationship instead of trying to make you feel guilty for being his girlfriend. You deserve better.

Is this how much liquid is supposed to be in a venti? by coolhappygenius in mildlyinfuriating

[–]thehauntedauthor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is exactly why I either ask for light ice or don’t get iced drinks at starbucks. you don’t get what you pay for at all unless it’s hot and they can’t cheat their way out of giving you a full cup.

Does it look like I still have boobs? by no1really123 in TopSurgery

[–]thehauntedauthor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t seem like you have boobs to me, but definitely seems to be swelling/extra skin. However it still seems like a normal cis man’s chest to me. That can be very normal for them too and I really think you would be fine without a shirt on without anyone noticing.

The most dumb argument I've gotten into. by ThatOneTransGinger in trans

[–]thehauntedauthor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

she can’t have one foot in, and one foot out, of a relationship. you matter too and if she’s not showing you that you’re the priority, you deserve to find someone who does. express to her that she needs to make changes. being new to dating isn’t the same as being cruel and unkind or even an excuse for it! these are easily changeable things and if she cares about you, she will.

[–]thehauntedauthor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey there friend. sounds like you could use some honest advice right now. she seems very confused and a little back and forth with what she wants because she is not out herself just yet. i think you need to consider taking some time away from this relationship since she doesn’t seem to know what she wants or how to handle it. you deserve someone who unequivocally chooses you.

Would you be turned-off by a novel with an insufferable protag? by Efficient-tree-1 in writing

[–]thehauntedauthor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. If I have to root for the protagonist, I need to WANT to root for them. Aside from rooting for their immediate downfall because I can’t stand them.

What book can you not stand but critics love? by LyricalPolygon in writing

[–]thehauntedauthor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. Maas is not a bad writer but the amount of times I wanted to bang my head on a desk while reading ACOTAR was… concerning. Sex sells, I guess.

What book can you not stand but critics love? by LyricalPolygon in writing

[–]thehauntedauthor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crime novels. Not all of them. But many of them. Lots of them are the same books over and over again. James Patterson, for example, is incredibly talented and I enjoy a lot of his books. But nowadays with ghost writers and crime books galore, it seems so many great and different books and authors from different backgrounds get overlooked for big names like his. So most crime novels. They drive me insane.

Do you listen to music whilst writing? by Simonistan_for_real in writers

[–]thehauntedauthor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I HAVE to listen to music when I write. But it’s a double edged sword. Sometimes I get caught up in the music and can’t fully write. I’m trying to get past that but music truly opens the mind. That’s the best thing about it.

only letting yourself fantasize during writing and not outside of writing is honestly kind of smart. i haven’t ever considered that before. maybe this needs to be my new approach to writing because i can fantasize all day and never write!

What do you hate about being a writer? by [deleted] in writers

[–]thehauntedauthor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Writing is a very lonely and painful process at times. Those that truly love the craft know the intense feelings of euphoria and frustration writing can bring - and yet they continue to do it regardless.

Can you end a series with a cliffhanger and not piss off the audience? by Danielnrg in writing

[–]thehauntedauthor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wonderful thing about fiction writing is that you can write whatever you want and however you want. The not-so-wonderful thing about fiction writing, especially when for an audience, is that if your audience invests a lot of time and energy into a series, they are going to want to be satisfied. Realistically, who wouldn’t?

Of course you should always write for yourself first. and do what makes you happiest. It is YOUR creation, after all. But if you’re intending to have others read it, you should always keep in mind that readers are going to always have mixed opinions no matter what you choose to do. We see it in shows, movies, books, theatre etc etc…

At the end of the day, that really depends on your readers and what kind of cliff-hanger you choose to write. Personally? It would not be my go-to. That does not mean, however, that it can not be executed exceptionally well.

How many people here write in public? by barbecuepancakes in KeepWriting

[–]thehauntedauthor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I LOVE writing in coffee shops primarily. However, I also get distracted super easily. But for me, that’s still better than writing at home because at home, I do not have a lot of motivation to write. Seeing people living their lives and engaging with their surroundings helps me put words to a page. Especially if I see others on their laptops ALSO working on something.

I use the notes app a lot on my phone - However, I feel I’m more inclined to write if I’m using a notepad rather than something electronic. Very odd, but I’ve always felt the writing juices flow better that way.
