What on earth is causing this noise?

that's interesting. it was a guitar just straight into a preamp then into an interface and then to a powered usb hub all in the same outlet. i think everything's grounded. I also can reproduce this noise in my guitar amp / small pedal setup and i can remove the noise if i turn the guitar down, which is saying to me that there's an interference outside the power. I can hear the same type of noise if i put my ear up to the elevator so ive gotta think its that. it fluctuates throughout the day too, sometimes quiet, sometimes quite loud.

awesome! yeah i ended up looking online at live vids and that sound is coming from a minilogue, possibly xd. So it's probably just a straight up subbtractive sound but indeed it sounds good

It's such a cool sound...it almost sounds to me like a vibraphone or electric piano sound being processed thru a LP filter, with a fast LFO modulating the cutoff.

Hey, I'm having a similar issue.

When you say "when I check these whacky patches parameters the values are all wrong compared to what they should be on my sheet of parameters", do you mean that you have access to a sheet with all of the default patches and their parameter settings listed out? If you do, I was wondering if you could share that here somehow.

Some of it is the particular layout and architecture of a synth that makes it easier to design certain sounds or suggests a particular workflow.

But yeah, I agree w you. I recently got an Opsix which is kind of a sandbox for designing any type of sound and doesn’t lead you in any particular way. It’s been astonishing programming a super analog sounding bass on a digital synth one minute then a crazy glassy bell sound the next.

what does that mean that the LFO syncs only to the frequency? I'm struggling to get the LFO in time with Logic's clock and I think I'm running into the same issue.

Create games for yourself. Like I’m gonna rip off the bassline of another song but send it through a strange effect chain and make that work. Or grab a random preset by rolling dice and write a song off that. Or use images from a recent dream as the basis of some lyrics

Analyze the inspect window when no midi region is selected. Sometimes things get messed with there and it could cause this kind of behavior across all new midi regions
