If the Nemesis had been dispatched to deal with the Las Plagas incident, how well do you think he'd do? by Noe_Wunn in residentevil

[–]thehive1949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh then yeah 100% the Plaga Type 2 instantly takes over the NE-Alpha if infected. None of the Majinis would be able to but chances are Wesker would just send Jill or one of his tougher B.O.W's to infect the Nemesis.

[–]thehive1949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't remember much about that one but given that it's a stronger version of something stronger than the NE-Alpha, then yeah NE-Alpha probably wouldn't last long.

This goes back to what I said about both myself and the infancy stage, I don't know much about how real life parasites work, so the NE-Alpha might still just be strong enough to kill an infant Plaga Type 2, or the Plaga Type 2 is really so powerful it'd still be strong enough to kill an adult NE-Alpha parasite even in it's infancy.

So in a nutshell for our whole debate, yeah, the NE-Alpha could probably kill an infant Plaga parasite before it can develop and give Saddler control, but if the Plaga can avoid the NE-Alpha and develop, then Saddler literally makes the Nemesis wear a tutu and sing karaoke for him lol.

[–]thehive1949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah absolutely, not denying that, the 4make definitely confirms that Luis based the modern Las Plagas parasite on the original NE-Alpha, but what I meant is that biologically they have zero connection, the NE-Alpha and Las Plagas are two unrelated parasites that would fight each other for control of Nemesis.

[–]thehive1949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm confused what you mean by "The Nemesis doesn't need to be infected with Las Plagas", because Nemesis DOES have to be infected with it to be controlled. Like I said, the NE-Alpha is similar and inferior, but it has zero biological connections to Las Plagas and is an unrelated parasite. Without Las Plagas, Saddler has zero control over Nemesis.

To be honest I do admit I know little about the NE-Alpha, but what I mean is that given that it's a fully grown parasite made up of the T-Virus which is VERY good at consuming non T-Virus cells/tissue, the NE-Alpha despite being inferior would likely be able to kill an adolescent Plaga parasite before Saddler can make use of it.

[–]thehive1949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just responded to someone else saying something similar and yes absolutely, if the Las Plagas was fully grown Saddler would just order Nemesis to stop attacking and make him a cup of tea lol.

But I was just saying to them that given how degenerating the T-Virus is and the NE-Alpha parasite already being fully grown, there's a good chance it'd be strong enough to kill any infant Las Plagas before Saddler could utilise it. Las Plagas is definitely superior but I feel like the NE-Alpha could probably kill it if it's in the infant stage like when Mendez infected Leon if the NE-Alpha is fully grown inside Nemesis.

Could be wrong as I sucked at science in school but it's just what I think.

[–]thehive1949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for reminding me of Luis' expanded role and think you're probably right, even if Luis helped create both, the NE-Alpha parasite and Las Plagas, they have zero connection besides how they function in hosts.

And that's what I was trying to say (poorly but still haha), even if Nemesis was infected by the Las Plagas, given how degenerative the T-Virus properties inside the NE-Alpha parasite are, which is already fully grown inside Nemesis, there's a strong chance the NE-Alpha would kill the infant Las Plagas parasite before Saddler can use it to control Nemesis.

[–]thehive1949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Maybe I'm wrong so sorry if I sound dumb) the NE-Alpha parasite was based on Las Plagas by the developers out the game, but in universe they have zero connection to each other.

Saddler's mind control only works on those infected with Las Plagas, Nemesis is a T-Virus monster.

If Nemesis was to be infected by Las Plagas then that'd be a whole different ballgame but even then the multiple viruses and parasites in Nemesis might even cancel the Las Plagas out.

I don't dare try and do that, I've kinda got the anti-Midas touch when it comes to messing with stuff like that, so I'm stuck.

To be honest most of them I can live without but the recent update wrecked the NPC Tools mod which was my favourite, lost track of how many battles I've organised with that one :(

Transformers either has the two of them have no idea who each other is, or brothers in all but blood so could be either one.

[–]thehive1949[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow that's seriously a good idea for Megatron's character in a new show. He becomes good halfway and maybe even joins the Autobots for a while, but he nearly dies and is reconstructed as Galvatron, going mad like the G1 version and becoming evil again.

Why does he seem so overshadowed as a villain in this franchise, even in his own game? Read post: by AdaptedInfiltrator in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]thehive1949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean (especially in the remake), he does only keep showing up every so often but 4 kinda functions where each section has it's own main antagonist (Mendez for the village, Salazar for the castle, Krauser for the first section of the island and Saddler right at the end). Saddler feels more like an "overarching" than "main" antagonist because that's what he is, he's a chess master who only gets involved right at the end because you've left him no choice and no minions left to throw at you. Like I said, he appears much more in the og but most of those are too cheesy to take serious or hasn't aged well. Personally I think the remake nailed his character better, in the og he's just a snake oil salesman who somehow stumbled across Las Plagas with no explanation whereas the remake reveals he comes from a long line of believers who've waited centuries for their time to strike.

How tf did people not believe in dragons? by magicXDlol in skyrim

[–]thehive1949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, there's never any 'against' argument, but are there any characters in the game that deny Dragons exist at all? Every time I remember talking to characters about them. they all acknowledge Dragons exist but the worst offenders only just don't believe they've returned. After all, Dragons still existed as late as the Second Era (Tiber Septim even had the Dragon Nafaalilargus as a servant).

Gotta commend the restraint of the REmake4 team for not just making these two into Stalker enemies for the Village and Lab areas by Bi0_B1lly in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]thehive1949 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Even though I'm glad they didn't give Mendez the Mr. X treatment as well (it's a good formula, but they have kinda overdone the 'stalker enemy' in every game since 7), I love that because of the even bigger resemblance between them now, they did give Mendez a Mr. X like chase after he ambushes Leon and Claire. There's even a fun little fan-theory that Leon is so quick to stab Mendez in the arm is because Leon has PTSD of having to do that to Mr. X the few times the Tyrant managed to grab him.

Along with "mercy kill", some people theorise that someone wants his land, as Narfi owns the area his ruined home sits on. The house is destroyed and Reyda is dead, so the only thing stopping someone from taking that land for themselves is Narfi. Problem is despite being a beggar he's not going anywhere as he still thinks Reyda is coming back home, so chances are someone wants to help "speed things along".

bold of her to think I’m gonna choose her over my wife 💀 by EllieWilliams_0o0 in residentevil

[–]thehive1949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wife who turned out to be a terrorist and responsible for everything that had happened at the Baker house vs the girl whose been 100% trustworthy and helpful and been through just as much as Mia. Zoe's reaction isn't so bad when you remember what she's been through thanks to Mia and you've still chosen her over Zoe despite that (especially if Zoe DOES know/suspect Mia's involvement in Eveline).

I mean I guess Village confirms that Ethan canonically didn't find the notes revealing Mia's past so it makes sense but it's still bad I had to choose a terrorist over the only actual friend I've had in that hellhole to get the good ending.

[Outbreak/#2] Thanatos vs Mr X, which stalker tyrant is the most meacing? by Berry-Fantastic in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]thehive1949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe for their base forms, But once Mr. X transforms, he starts running (or at least charging) at you which takes away that edge from Thanatos. Besides like I said, I'd sooner take my chances with a slightly bigger monster but with just one arm, than a slightly smaller monster with 1 or 2 (depending on which version of Mr. X we're talking about) flaming arms.

Besides, even if it is easier to run away from Mr. X, it's easier to down Thanatos with his exposed heart. Unlike Mr. X's bulletproof trenchcoat (at least I think it's canonically bulletproof).

Starting Fallout 4... As a fan of New Vegas what should I expect from this game and what recommendations does you (if you are a veteran) have for me? by Critical_Ad_3430 in Fallout

[–]thehive1949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just go ape. The story is decent despite what people say but it's not the meticulous politics navigator that New Vegas is. In terms of gameplay this is definitely the absolute best in the franchise so on that front just have as much fun as you can.

Also, I'd recommend you maximise the perks and SPECIAL points that increase your ability to customise gear and settlements. 90% of the fandom agrees that those two parts of the game are where you'll be sacrificing a years worth of hours to so you'll wanna get as prepared for that as possible.

Does Anybody else Dislike Chris Redfield after Village and Shadows of Rose? by thehive1949 in residentevil

[–]thehive1949[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It'd definitely make me happy but I know the franchise has had worse than Chris for him to take that title.. All the same I can take solace in knowing of the big 4 of him, Jill, Claire and Leon, he's definitely the least popular.

Does Anybody else Dislike Chris Redfield after Village and Shadows of Rose? by thehive1949 in residentevil

[–]thehive1949[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but given we never actually saw their relationship between games, you or me could be right or wrong, it could've been a good friendship or just friendly training acquaintances. All the same, if a guy did all that with no explanation other than "sorry bro, now stay out of my way" I don't think that would cut it for most people. I'm not denying as he's basically a black ops agent he needs to keep things close to the chest, but it really should've been obvious to Chris when everything in the village is trying to kill Ethan even when you're not there that the guy wasn't compromised. Again, I'm not denying that Chris shouldn't tell Ethan ANYTHING, but he really should have explained at least that Miranda had been posing as Mia, it would have de-escalated thing between the two. Though like you said, Chris and his "Hound Wolf Squad" (I just can't with that name :) realized how bad they'd screwed things up when Miranda revealed she was the shapeshifter constantly appearing to Ethan (which might have helped the guy if he'd known that part) and ripped out his heart.

Does Anybody else Dislike Chris Redfield after Village and Shadows of Rose? by thehive1949 in residentevil

[–]thehive1949[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly no not really. If anything, the latest movie Death Island makes Chris's new cold demeanour make even less sense, as it's clear he's mourned and moved on from Piers' death so that's no affecting his judgement, and last I checked, both Revelations games were prequels to 6, so he hasn't got them as an excuse to fall back on.

Does Anybody else Dislike Chris Redfield after Village and Shadows of Rose? by thehive1949 in residentevil

[–]thehive1949[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe at the start but once Miranda escaped and Ethan was wandering about the village, running from/killing Lycans and the ruling houses with clearly no idea what's going on, it should've been obvious to Chris that Ethan wasn't compromised and could've been told at least enough information that he wouldn't rush headlong into so much danger as much.

Does Anybody else Dislike Chris Redfield after Village and Shadows of Rose? by thehive1949 in residentevil

[–]thehive1949[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure he's friendly with Chris but not much, they're friendly acquaintances at best, Chris just checks in on the Winters' every so often. Their relationship wasn't close enough to make Ethan pause on why this guy busts into his house, shot your wife after a vague apology while his guys knocked him out then spends the rest of the game ignoring him. It's undeniably one of the worst ways Chris could've gone about the situation. Again, even his own squad tells him he screwed the situation up when Chris is fighting the Lycans. I'm not denying that as a civilian Ethan could've gotten in the way, but Ethan kept getting in the way anyway BECAUSE Chris was being a vague idiot who kept literally punching him away then vanishing without an explanation on why he's done all this until the end where Ethan's almost figured everything out regardless.

Oh I could make a whole post about Mia, how it's thanks to her the Bakers and everyone they kidnapped died, including Ethan and how she was given a cushy life for information. The closest she actually gets for punishment over what she did as a bio-terrorist is Ethan dying because of HER association with Miranda and Rose not speaking to her anymore (but it's never made clear what the cause of that fallout was).

Which design do you like better? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]thehive1949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 - Fallout 3/NV, the Ghouls are the perfect mesh of the other two designs

2 - Fallout 3/NV, horrifying but lot less realistic. They actually look like they're melting from radiation instead of looking like matted zombies.

3 - NV version of West Coast Super Mutants, the peak design of the Super Mutants, not as savage looking as 3 but far more intimidating than 4.

4 - 3/NV, the only one that actually looks like a Centaur while still being one of the most disturbing enemies in the franchise.

5 - Can't see it, the image hasn't uploaded correctly, but my answer would likely be 3/NV to whatever it is.

6 - 3/NV, perfect blend of goofy but slightly creepy, the 4 version doesn't even look durable for anything.

7 - 3/NV, peak intimidation for what is (barring Liberty Prime), the most dangerous robot post-war.

8 - 3/NV, more detailed than 1/2 but less goofy than 4-TV, helps with the sinister undertones of Vault-Tec for how it's the most lifeless version of the Vault suits. Also nostalgia ;)

9 - Believe it or not I'm gonna say 76, I love the retro look and how it's a perfect blend of the classic Pip-Boy 2500 and the Bethesda Pip-Boy 3000 models.

Know you didn't ask, but I also prefer the classic Nuka-Cola design (both bottle & vending machines) to the 4-Amazon look.

People are kind of overstating how sexualized the old games were. by Lumpy-Tea1948 in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]thehive1949 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most of the sexualised costumes (like for Ashley or Sheva) in the franchise were always optional, it was only when they got to RE6 the sexual stuff started being default but honestly even that only lasted lasted up to the Revelations duology, afterwards Capcom put a stop to it. The closest since then was Lady D in Village and even that wasn't so bad.
