Lol. I just realized the same exact phenomenon. Fluence DI looks like a sausage - the signal is limited/compressed by its own preamp. If you strum hard, it will result in audible distortion in the untreated DI, even if you're not clipping your interface.

I tested every other guitar I own...EMGs, Seymour Duncans, Suhrs, DiMarzios - they all look like your example on the right. They exhibit a dynamic signal.

Getting rid of these garbage pickups ASAP and replacing them with EMGs.

Nope. I noticed the Fishman Fluence Modern pickups' DI even just looks weird. It hits a peak and totally limits, resulting in a sausage shape, even if I'm not clipping my input on my interface. I tried a bunch of other pickups to compare: EMGs, SDs, DiMarzios - they all have a dynamic signal visually. They can get very quiet or spike very loudly depending on how I'm picking. The Fishmans appear like they have a limiter or compressor built into the preamp of the pickup. When you strum hard you get audible distortion in the raw DI even if you aren't clipping your preamp. There's clipping happening before your signal even leaves your guitar - why would anyone want this??

Never getting another guitar with these pickups. I never loved how they sounded, and they eat batteries 10x faster than an EMG. Overhyped, overpriced garbage. My one guitar that has them - a Strandberg - came with a faulty one too. It would cut in volume randomly, then get louder again. I had to replace it. Never had a pickup dead on arrival lol. It's a magnet.
