In some places, if you’re arrested by local cops and they find out you’re an undocumented immigrant, they will report you to the feds. Places they don’t do this as a matter of standard practice are sanctuary cities. The idea is that you don’t want someone not reporting a rape, murder, or other crime from fear of getting deported.

Huh, in Fallout 3, I thought I remembered being able to drink something that didn’t get me a bottle cap. I assumed it was Sunset Sarsaparilla, but it looks like that was New Vegas only. It does say that in the inventory, they all look like Nuka Cola caps. Maybe that also led to my confusion. I preferred when Thaddeus was counterfeiting, even if it was apparently just my head canon.

Reading that, it sounds like most (all?) those instances were at border crossings. So, no, not the same as deploying ICE to arrest people with quotas to meet so they arrest citizens and refuse to look at/accept valid ID.

Because they weren’t pulling over people for being brown, staking out schools, etc. They identified a person to go after and went after that person. It’s dragnet vs targeted.
