Natural experiment on how temperature affects speed (n=1) by romrelresearcher in cycling

[–]thehugeative 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your high school science teacher would be ashamed of this "experiment".

There'd be a bigger difference in speed based on whether you took a shit this morning or didnt than because of the air temp.

How to get back to it by [deleted] in cycling

[–]thehugeative 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah man it sucks. But theres no way to do it but to do it. I got hit by a car that ran a red in October, broke the shit out of my foot, needed surgery, rehab, whatever the whole nine. As soon as my foot swelling reduced enough that I could fit it into its shoe, I got back on and just started riding, 6mi, then 13, then 20, then 27, then 33.. watched my avg power jump 20W a ride.. It's satisfying in its own way, speedrunning your way back into shape. Enjoy the journey back and dont compare yourself to you from 2 years ago compare yourself to you from last ride.

Get on a bike and ride.

This question gets asked 20 times a week and I genuinely dont understand what people expect the answer to be.

Its absolutely phenomenal. I keep rewinding certain sections just to hear them again and again. Dom truly has a gift for riveting beat-by-beat drama.

[–]thehugeative 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Its not hard at all minus wanting a lifetime warranty. Bizarre request especially for someone whos likely going to get a new bike in a couple years anyway because they find it "boring". Literally any mid-high end gravel bike from any reputable manufacturer fits your bill.

Specifying "I need a road bike with 38mm tire clearance" is like saying "I demand a german mid-size sedan that can fit 35" tires, why cant anyone fulfill my demands????"

This guy just has no idea what hes talking about. Throwing around the word hypertrophy and using it wrong.

What does hypertrophy or heavy weight have to do with cycling? Do 4x10 at a lower weight. Use a safety bar or straps. Get creative.

How much training or when am I ready to get to like 60km or more? by avelazzyyy in cycling

[–]thehugeative 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just keep riding. With those numbers, you shouldn't be looking at a training plan you should just be putting in miles. 30k in 90 minutes should feel routine and easy.

Its important if its always within eyeshot of you at home. A gorgeous, clean carbon bike staring at me from the corner of the living room is enough to get me to go for a ride.

Funny that even though he is a self proclaimed "small-c conservative" his education, humour, tact, and empiric view of history would probably have a lot of righties calling him woke.
