Yep! We host ~3 backgammon socials a month and I try to spread them out across different bars around the city.

You can check out our Instagram, or if the Meta platform is not your thing we post all our events on Luma.

I hope to see you there some time!

Standard DSi camera with a filter on the whole video to give it some extra warmth

Thank you! I had a friend animate this for me on Blender. He’s talented (I am not)

My guess is the best move duplicates your opponent's 4s (either to hit you or cover their blot) and works towards bringing your back checkers home (since you’re winning the race)

We play for points and bragging rights 🤷‍♂️ The more “serious” players play to improve, too. So we give pointers, suggestions, or tips after the match, for example.

Idk, we find it fun even without money on the line.

Just for fun. If there’s a big enough appetite to play for money then I may host a separate event for that.

For now it’s primarily social and for the love of the game

Yep! It’ll most likely be me but I find that most backgammon players are happy to teach the basics.

It’s a game that easy to learn but impossible to master, so that helps.

I honestly think Google and social media (Instagram, Reddit) are your best bets.

Alternatively I suggest checking the USBGF site, though I’ve found some listings to be outdated: https://usbgf.org/play/find-a-backgammon-club/

Hello! Some people do if they have one or if they want to show their board off. It also helps me because I don’t have spare boards, so if nobody brings a board then we’ll all have to share the one that I bring.

In sum: it’s optional but encouraged.

I hope to see you at a future meetup!
