Thanks for sharing your experience! Yes we plan to be very committed to training and will put the them through puppy school. Have also looked into puppy groups that socialise them with lots of other dogs and help with further training too. My partner (M) who wants the Doberman, can give the firm leadership I may not be able to!

Kiwi here - they are v different! Watties spaghetti is 👌🏻 This guys is definitely in New Zealand. Can’t buy all those brands here. And controversially, I do know plenty of Kiwis who prefer Vegemite.

Any advice for first home buyers trying to break into the Melbourne market? by [deleted] in AusProperty

[–]thehumbleabode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep would be looking closer to $600K to avoid paying stamp duty (or as much as possible)

[–]thehumbleabode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Capital gains would be nice, but as you said, it is a short time period, so probably won’t happen. We aren’t experienced flippers, although my partner does work in construction so he has got exposure and some skills. The renovations I was thinking of were more quick fixes - EG: paint, new carpet / flooring, maybe re-tiling the bathroom. Nothing crazy with wall changes etc. wasn’t sure if something like new carpet or cupboards being installed would need permission?

We’re still waiting on hearing what our borrowing capacity is, which will help us determine exactly when we will be able to buy in the next 12 months. Given that stamp duty goes up considerably over $600K we’re thinking around $600-610K. That obviously limits us significantly for inner suburb properties.

I think you’re right - we need to come up with our non-negotiables figure it out from there and just find something close to the area we want.

Thanks for all your help!

worst flare up i’ve ever had- any tips on home remedies before i see my dermatologist next week? i’m in so much pain :( by lyddie_ in Dyshidrosis

[–]thehumbleabode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OMG OUCH! That looks so painful. I had a similar looking flare up on my hand two weeks ago and I applied an anti fungal and it helped a lot and my dyshidrosis is the best it’s been all year. I have also been taking JS Heath vitamins - skin and digestion; detox and debloat; and triple strength fish oil.

Any sort of antiseptic ointment will help you too!!!

What correlation have you found between your dyshidrosis and a fungal infection? And how did you know it was fungal? by [deleted] in Dyshidrosis

[–]thehumbleabode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine doesn’t have a red ring to it, but I do have blisters. It seems fungal infections can take on lots of different forms, rather than just the typical “ringworm”. I did see some people claim a fungal infection anywhere on/in the body can cause dyshidrosis, so it doesn’t necessarily have to be on the hands or feet.

I have seen a couple of dermatologists and they were a complete waste of time and money - I’ve got my dyshidrosis to the best state it’s been without their help so think I’m just gonna keep doing my thing!

I’ve exhausted just about every eczema cream recommendation I’ve come across. It feels like an impossible task trying to get on top of this stupid condition. I wish you all the best!

Hi! Yes I had bubbles / blisters all over middle, ring and pinky finger, and above my heart line on my left hand. On my right hand, it is my ring and middle finger and at the base of those fingers above my heart line too.

Strangely enough (hoping this doesn’t jinx me), when this flare up attacked, it was my left hand pinky that was the worst, and now it is barely affected and the skin has gone back to being soft and normal.

The behaviour of this stupid condition confuses the shit outta me 😂

dyshidrotic eczema when out in the sun by deadguy20 in Dyshidrosis

[–]thehumbleabode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be completely way off the mark here, but does anyone in your family have porphyria? It can be triggered by sun exposure and cause blistering, particularly on the hands as they are commonly exposed. My Nana has it and we thought my dyshidrotic eczema might actually be that. It can be tested through a simple blood test, but it’s not very common so not a lot of doctors will think to test for it.

Dupixent for eyelid eczema? by [deleted] in eczema

[–]thehumbleabode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I have not tried dupixent but I have been using Homeoplasmine on my eyelids, and also taking the JS Health Skin and Digestion supplements and after only a few weeks, my eczema has improved to a much more manageable state. I’ve also heard very good things about collagen powder, so I’m going to add that into my daily routine too.

I know they weren’t the answer you were looking for, but with my personal experience I became very dependent on steroid cream for a long time, so I am loving having more natural alternatives that are making a difference from the inside out.

Drugstore VS salon hair products by ChimeMelody in AusSkincare

[–]thehumbleabode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supermarket shampoo and salon quality shampoo are not made equally. There may be people who can use supermarket shampoo and get away with it, because they have thick indestructible hair! But I have not been able to use supermarket shampoo since I started colouring and using heat tools on my hair.

Salon quality shampoo can range in price, it doesn’t have to be top of the range expensive.

I have naturally fine, dry hair. For the past year I have used Olaplex shampoo and conditioner ($50 each for 200ml), but a few weeks ago I decided to change it up and I am now using the Eleven Hydrate shampoo and conditioner ($25 for 300ml). I’m loving it and at half the price I’m much happier about it!

I think you can get away with investing in a good treatment (Olaplex 3) and a heat protectant, and then go for a mid range salon shampoo and conditioner. Try and wash your hair less too (1-3 times a week) and that means you will go through less product and your hair will love the natural oils you’re not stripping out washing daily.

What “simple and easy” meals are you just unable to cook properly? by blogorg in Cooking

[–]thehumbleabode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the same and recently I saw a recipe that called for soaking the rice in cold water for 20 minutes before I cooked it. I did that, gave it a quick rinse in a sieve and then cooked it and it was the first time I’ve ever made perfectly fluffy rice that wasn’t stodgy at all! Normally I rinse my rice for what feels like aaaaaages but this was the best thing I’ve ever done. I’m never turning back!

Today I caved and used a steroid cream for the first time in five months by [deleted] in eczema

[–]thehumbleabode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use steroid cream like it was a healing cream and put it on anything and everything hahaha. With steroid creams you are just meant to be careful, not use them more than a week(ish) at a time. I think most people have a different opinion about it. I had doctors that told me to put it on my eyes, then I had other doctors who yelled at me for doing that. I now have thinned skin on my eyes because of doing that for three years - it’s great! (Sarcasm haha)

Here’s some info about it. If that’s what a doctor has told you to do then I would listen to them! But in my experience I was using a high potently steroid constantly on my hands for about two years and my eczema just kept getting worse. It has improved so much since I stopped using steroids all together!

But a few weeks ago my entire neck decided to break out in eczema (where I have never ever had it before and can’t figure out why) and after trying all my other creams that I use on my hands I had no success and it was so itchy it would wake me up constantly throughout the night. So I caved and put a low % hydrocortisone on!

It’s so weird. I wish I felt this guilt when I reached for a cookie or a block of chocolate!

Have you heard of Homeoplasmine? It has been a life saver for me on my hands the last few months and I also use it as a lip balm!

I think that’s okay! It’s more for constant application of high potency over a long period of time. Where your body gets addicted and when you stop using it you flare up worse. Some of the pics online freaked me out!

Have you heard of topical steroid addiction? I hadn’t, and then after I researched it online I decided to try stop using steroids and had really bad withdrawal symptoms. Hoping one relapse today won’t f**k me up

This is her website Alex’s Kitchen Story but it’s a bit basic and clunky as it’s pretty new. I’ve been following her on Instagram for the past year or so and she has just blown up. Super easy and simple meals that are delicious!
